Dinner Before Jelly Rolls!

Three men and their golf clubs hit the Disney Courses for a long weekend. Trying to decide on dinner before visiting Jelly Rolls. Help me decide! :)

I would do something on the Boardwalk or EP resort area. ESPN Club is right there - it's casual and the food is good. For good Italian, try Trattoria al Forno (grab a drink in AbracadaBAR, it's really cool). If you like seafood, you could do the Cape May buffet at Beach Club. Sushi? Go to Kkmonos at the Swan or get a great steak at Shulas in the Dolphin. Lots of good places within walking distance of Jellyrolls!

Depending on price point I like Crew's Cup for some decent food and drinks. Usually low-key but can get busy and space is limited. Yachtsman was very good when we went a few years ago. Haven't tried Flying Fish but the new menu looks good, and I believe they have a lounge but not sure what the seating is like.

Big River Brew and Grill on the boardwalk is good pub-ish food. Super casual is The Fountain at the Dolphin, but their lobby bar before/after is a great.

Captains Grill at the Yacht Club is mid range and of course Yachtsmans Steakhouse is high end, as is Shulas at the Dolphin ( very short walk from the boardwalk, and after a few drinks or feeling very full or golf clubs too heavy, you could even take a ferry, but that would take longer than walking)

Some good options....traveling with 2 other "planning" virgins. They do not see the need for a dinner plan! I have not tried IL For our yet or the new Flying Fish menu.

We've done Big River and BlueZoo before Jelly Rolls. The bar area at Big River is first come first serve if there is a long wait. The wait was 45min+ and we sat down at the bar with about a 5min wait.

1) Have a sandwich at the eatery at the golf course.
2) It will tide-you-over through Jelly rolls.
3) Then go for dinner afterward.

Personally I've never thought the Brew Grille was any good for food (boardering on bad). ESPN's food has been pretty bleh too, and their service is always terrible. Everything I have read is the new Flying Fish is out of this world if you are looking at that price point. If not, I'd agree on Crew Cup, or Cape May if you are big eaters. Burgers I'd go for Beaches and Cream (especially if you are just looking for super casual). Pretty much everything at Swan/Dolphin is good if something over there sounds good.

But Jellyrolls starts getting really good about 10 or 11 PM, much to late to find anything still serving dinner. I would for sure do dinner first and plan to stay late at Jellyrolls.

If I am going the second week of September will we be able to get into Jellyrolls on a weekday about 10 ish?
If so, I'll make dinner reservations for about 8/8:30 pm on the Boardwalk for that evening and then head to Jellyrolls.

Thank you.

Eating dinner at 11 or midnight (or later) isn't appealing to most people in my experience.

My DH and I did a pre-Jellyrolls dinner at Big River once. It wasn't crowded at all - we walked right up at about 5 pm. The restaurant still wasn't full when we left. The food was fine and fairly inexpensive, and we enjoyed the beer.

By 10 it may be standing room only, depends on what conventions are going on in the nearby resorts. We were there second week of December and stayed to nearly midnight and it never did fill up. We suspected it was due to very little convention activity during that time of the year. Usually it starts filling up quickly around 9 PM.

We just ate at Flying Fish and it was incredible. Scallops over grits, mixed seafood entree, sliced tuna app, and the best margarita I have ever had (blood orange) made it a memorable dinner. However, my DH sent me outside with the littles before paying the bill (it was a Xmas present and he knew I would have a better feel on leaving if I did not see the total!) the apps were fantastic. You could get a drink at Abracadabar and then share apps if cost is a concern. I would also consider just walking and snacking in world showcase if you have park tix. Fish and chips, tacos, crepes, etc. I enjoy this kind of meal as much as a sit down and it is an easy walk to Jelly Rolls.

Another recommendation for Big River (from DH, he's a golfer too). The beer is really good & the food is good & reasonably priced. We also really like Crew's Cup. It's laid back & the short ribs & steak are yummy. Enjoy your trip, play well.

I would stay right at boardwalk for dinner. Big River Grill is right by JellyRolls. Fantastic Bar and Grill atmosphere and have loved the food each time I've went, especially the burgers. If you are looking for a drink that's the place to go as well. They have their own brewery right there with a sampler to try

1) Have a pizza delivered.
2) Very few REAL golfers could/would object to a late-night pizza-and-beer dinner.
3) If they object, make them, give you strokes the next day on the course.
4) A truly proportional penalty.

OFF-SITE PIZZA DELIVERY (until about 3:00am):
1) Giordano’s, 407-397-0044
2) Pizza Hut, 866-438-2507
3) Papa John’s, 352-243-1800
4) Flipper's Pizza, 407-938-9633 (Best in our opinion)

NOTE1:
. . . At Deluxe Resorts and FW, delivered to Front Desk or Bellmen.
. . . At other resorts, delivered usually to your room.
. . . At DVC resorts, they deliver almost always to your room.

NOTE2:
. . . WDW is so large, that there are different pizza franchisees of the same brandname that serve different hotels.
. . . Just call the pizza numbers listed, and they transfer you to the proper franchisee's number.
. . . example: AKL and FW have different Papa John franchisees serving the two resorts

WARNING - DANGER WILL ROBINSON - WARNING:
. . . you might find a pizza "flyer" under your door.
. . . do not under any circumstances call them.
. . . there have been "pizza scams" at local hotels and WDW resorts.
. . . you call, order, give your credit card number
. . . you do not get pizza, but they have your CC number - oops
. . . you find fraudulent charges on you CC later
. . . in the best-case-scenario, you get delivery of a frozen pizza.
WARNING - DANGER WILL ROBINSON - WARNING:

The food and drinks at Bluezoo never disappoint, and their manhattans are exceptional.
