Is there a view at dinner from the buffet dinner or just AMA AMA?

Only a view of the Waikolohe Valley at Makahiki if you are seated outside! The sunset view from 'Ama 'Ama is beautiful!

If you go past the marriott next door to the end if path the view is spectacular and free. We bring a drink in our Disney mugs.

We loved Ama Ama for both a late lunch and also dinner.... we were not big fans of the buffet at Makahiki.... but then I should add we arent big buffet fans at WDW either. For example some folks rave about the buffet at AKL and we were underwhelmed. So if you like the buffets at WDW you might just enjoy it.

I think I'll keep our buffet. We are big buffet people. LOVE Boma at AKL!

Might add Ama Ama and eliminate Roy's. Been there before and stay on resort and see sunset??

I heard the same. My family also really enjoyed our dinner at Ama Ama. Yes it was expensive but all our meals were very good! Our server Johnson was great too! We made reservations for our first night and were happy we went there. We loved Monkeypod (we ate at their Maui location twice during our stay there prior to arriving at Aulani). Great live music and great atmosphere! We also ate at Pizza Corner (highly recommend) in same mall area. We met the owner who was originally from upstate New York. He was great and walked around to check in on his customers. We had such a nice chat and when he heard we were from NJ he brought out complimentary garlic knots (and also sent us back with cinnamon knots yummy). Pizza Corner is BYO. Pizzas start at $19.50 for plain.

That is coming from a gal who likes GOOD PIZZA!
But then again, who doesn't if you live in the NY metro area, haha!

We took a break from the sun and walked across and ate the pizza there instead of delivery! Garlic Knots DELIC!
Didn't meet the owner, but the waitress I believe said he was from Syracuse, NY.

We were stuffed so we didn't indulge in the ice cream right by Monkeypod!
Saved that for after dinner at Monkeypod. Delic!!!

Jersey Gal, et al, Have you ever been to Roy's? If you have would you skip Roy's and go to Ama Ama? We've been to Roy's a few times already.

Firstly, we were seated in a small room next to the dining room, which almost felt like an "annex" at Roys...No atmostphere at all.
Secondly, in my opinion, the portions were small. By contrast, we had a lovely table with a beautiful sunset at AmaAma and I felt that the portion size and food quality was good! We had a 6:15 reservation at AmaAma if that helps...

I can't speak to Roy's as we didn't get there, though I agree with Jerseygal on portion size and quality at Ama Ama. We also had a 6:15 reservation. Just a note that when I went to make a res. a week or two before vacation I couldn't get anything in the window where we would be there for sunset. I checked a few days before and times opened up and I got the 6:15. It was a beautiful night and we all enjoyed it!

EXCELLENT WINGS! First night we arrived we ate dinner VERY EARLY as we were exhausted from the flight and arrived at aiport at 2:15PM...We didn't get our room till 4:10, unpacked a few things. We were STARVING and headed to Monkeypods early..worked well and a plus was half price appetizers! NICE!

Booked monkey pod already for a 4:30 day so we have an hour. Heard their pizzas are on sale during Happy Hour too!

Now just have to pick day for Ama Ama. Also, need to do Luau but trying to figure out the starlit hui days.
