We just found out that friends of ours will be in the WDW area at the same time as our family. I wanted to plan a character dinner at Contemporary or Grand Floridian, but of course with such short notice (next Monday) we could not get into Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare. There will be 10 of us, (4 adults, 3-18 yo girls, a 16 yo boy and 2 -13 yo boys). Though we will have been at AKL on weds/thurs this week, we will be at the darkside for the following 5 nights. I am thinking that since none of us will be at a WDW resort on Monday, maybe we will eat at DTD. Any suggestions? And this will be a first trip for one of the 18 yo girls. Thanks for the help!

of the restaurants in DTD retain many if not most of their seats outside of the Disney Dining system. Be sure to call the restaurants directly. My first recommendation is House of Blues. It's larger and can hold a lot of people, it's not on the DDP and the food is better than most of the other restaurants there. The decor can be entertaining also.

Well, the nice thing about the new online reservation site is that you can search by time, party size and dining experience. I put in next Monday, 10 people at 7pm and got:

Character Dining:
Cinderella's Royal Table (no good given that it requires admission)
Tusker House (same)
Garden Grove

Casual Dining:
Olivia's (OKW)
Shutters (CBR)
Boatwright's (POR)
Cap'n Jack's (DTD)
Captain's Grille (YC)
Grand Floridian Cafe
Trail's End (FtW)
Turf Club (SSR)
Tony's Town Square (MK - admission)
Liberty Tree Tavern (MK - admission)
Tusker House

Wow! That's cool! I have to look at that! I wanted to eat at the Contemporary or Grand Floridian at first so we could see the fireworks at MK after eating- there seem to be some possibilities. Hmmmm.... Thanks! What is the Grand Floridian Cafe like? Will we need ressies?

Yes you will need a reservation for the Grand Floridian Cafe. I have never been but have seen many positive reviews:)

Have any of you been to the GF Cafe? Is it substancial enough for dinner fare? Thanks!

^^^ Did you consider checking out the character breakfast at Cape Mae Cafe at Disney's Beach Club Resort? Another character meal can be found at the Garden Grove in the Swan/Dolphin Resort complex.
