We will be arriving on a Friday in August at Portofino. Where would be a fun place to eat? When I check the restaurants, they seem pretty nice and our kids will be looking for a fun atmosphere (Like a Margaritaville) but we don't want to walk over to City Walk after traveling all day.

So...should we eat at the pool? Is that an option? I did read that there is a pizza shop, but we are visiting a relative for lunch...and...of course...having pizza!

Thanks for any other Portofino advice you can give. (room location...etc.)

+1. I'd like the answer as well. Our plan was to take the boat to Citywalk and visit Margaritaville. Our little guy is 5.

The boats to Citywalk are frequent and they don't take long. If you see something you think your kids would like at Citywalk, go -- it's no hassle at all.

Are any of the restaurants at Portofino fun and relaxed?

Mama Della's is relaxed and friendly. The food is so-so. Not bad, but nothing special here IMO (on the other hand, my mother loved her seafood dish).

In the evening they often have musicians and a singer come through and serenade the tables, so that's fun. It's not rollicking or loud, though, so it might depend on your definition of "fun."

Mama Della's is relaxed and the strolling musicians are fun. We liked our meals alot -- we were pleasantly surprised as we did not expect the food to be as good as it was.
