Dinner at one of the resorts, how do we get back to ASMo?

I'm looking at possibly eating character dinners at some of the resorts (Contemporary, GF, Swan). I know we can get there from MK via WDW transportation. After dinner, how do we get back to ASMo? Do we take transportation back to MK, then a bus to ASMo? If so, how late do those run?

(We will be there during MNSSHP, but not participating in MNSSHP, if that makes any difference. I know MNSSHP isn't every night, but we'll be there 3-4 nights during the week, in the middle of October, so obviously some of the nights will be MNSSHP.)

If the MK is closed when you want to return, you can take a bus to Downtown Disney and transfer to the ASMo bus there. You could also take a cab - expect to spend about $15 for that. Bus service to DD runs until at least 1 or 2 am - when the clubs at PI close.

If you do this on a MNSSHP night, you can use the MK as a transfer point (works best for the CR or GF). If you choose the Swan, you can use MGM as a transfer point (if it's still open) or you can walk back through EPCOT (need to have park admission, but if you went to a park that day with a hopper ticket it's not an issue) and grab an ASMo bus there. Again, it would have to be open for you to do that. DD is still an option from the Swan, as is the cab.

Best wishes -

We will be going to MK, and will not have hoppers - will we still be able to use MGM and DD as transfer points? If so, how long should I expect it to take to get from the resorts to DD to ASMo? We'll probably be doing this two nights while we're there (the other nights we'll eat at MK). If it's a really long process, it may be worth $30 ($15 x 2) to save the hassle (esp. if dd is starting to get tired, and if I'm pregnant (I hope! I hope! I hope!) with feet starting to swell, lol.

Yes. You do not need to enter MGM to catch a bus back to your resort. From the Swan, you can either walk (about 3/4 of a mile) or take the boat to MGM. I'd recommend the boat - it's a nice romantic ride all by itself in my opinion and especially nice in the evening when you are tired.

No charge to catch the bus from the Swan to DD, either.

I'd allow about an hour from the Swan back to ASMo - could be less, depending on how long you have to wait for boats / buses.

If you have to use DD as a transfer point, allow about an hour. Getting to dinner (especially if you start from a park) is generally easier and faster because the parks are usually still open and transportation to the parks runs frequently.

It's relatively easy to get to the MK resorts from ASMo - just take the bus to the MK and then jump on the resort monorail (or grab one of the boats if you're going to the GF, Poly or WL). It's kind of fun to take the monorail if you're going to the CR. Nothing like arriving right inside the resort, right?

My advice is to take Disney transportation to dinner and if you're tired or in a hurry to get back afterwwards, take a cab back to the resort. That's a nice splurge to end the evening!

Hope you have a wonderful trip and have some "good news" to celebrate while you're there.

Best wishes -

Just to clarify for you about taxis. After eating at the hotel(s) simply go out the main entrance and you will see a Cast Member at a podium. He/she will get a taxi for you right away. I didn't want you to think you had to go back to a theme park to get a taxi. Taxis are easily and readily available at all Disney resorts.
