I need info on eating dinner at Ohana
Can you stay at resort to watch fireworks?
We will be staying off property, how long can we park at resort? Most important…how was the food?

You can see the fireworks at ‘Ohana as well as the Electric water parade. I think parking is a three hour maximum with an ADR. The food is frequently enjoyed by children of all ages. My 19 year old DGD was sad that I hadn’t made an ADR this past Christmas season.

The food is good and plenty of it. I would go back. My fav are the pork dumplings.

Nobody is going to usher you out of the resort after you finish eating. However, finding a place to actually watch the fireworks could be an issue. Very few tables at 'Ohana are near a window.

Reviews of the food at 'Ohana vary considerably. Take your chances.

This is true however from past visits I’ve noted that you still have a very clear view of the fireworks from at least the 3rd row of tables from the window. Those large picture frame windows do their job.

‘Ohana is probably the most inconsistent restaurant on property and very polarizing as a result. Go and make up your own mind. If I had listened to everyone who says it’s trash I would have missed out on some great meals and service. We’ve never had a bad experience there.

As far as fireworks viewing you’ll be able to go to the beach after dinner if you can’t see it from the restaurant, people do it all the time. iirc the official line is 3 hours permitted to park there if you have an ADR.

We ate at Ohana on our trip in September. Chose it after reading and watching so much about it. Yes, it was delicious and I am glad we got to experience it. We were lucky and got seated near the big windows (without even requesting it) so had a real nice view of their pool and the lake. The live entertainment adds a nice touch and our server was attentive, albeit maybe a bit rushed.

We had the dining plan during that stay, and it was indeed a good use of a TS credit. There was so much food, we felt like we wasted a lot of it. Would I pay out of pocket for it next time we go, knowing what it is? Absolutely not. Not because it was bad, but to me it's not worth the price tag, especially for kids.

The resort is nice though, so we took advantage of being there and looked around all the shops, had a Dole Whip and took the boat back to MK (which was the highlight of the night quite honestly).

Have fun :)

We've already made our ressies at Ohana for May. It's a must do every trip and we have never been disappointed. You will have inconsistencies in reviews of most restaurants according to people's likes/dislikes on any given meal or day.

A few inconsistent parts of the meal, in our experience, are seating, pacing, and the mains. We were seated last time back by the broom closet, far from a window, and it was very crowded. We were in hurry to finish before fireworks, and didn’t want to wait for reseating. But indicating you are willing to wait to be close to a window might come help with seating.

We told our server that we wanted to completely finish the apps and salad before the mains arrived. They came out skillets anyhow, and we sent them away. Our server was grumpy, but we did achieve spacing it out.

And the chicken and shrimp were fine, but the beef was very chewy and almost impossible to cut. We sent that one back, and the second one was much better. So we discovered ways to make it a much better experience for us.

Went to Ohana years ago and didn't like it, even got sick. However, we went back last May and liked it. We liked the noodles, dumplings, salad and dessert the best. None of us really cared for the meats. My husband is a big meat eater and likes just everything but he didn't even finish one.

We've always had great food - but I will say it's so expensive. Even for a great meal, it really hits our limit of what we can justify. It's great as long as you have light breakfast/lunch that day... don't plan Crystal Palace at noon, then hop over to 'Ohana for a 6 PM unless you are really not worried about the cost.

This is also a personal situation but they do not do anything special if you have someone who has an eating disorder and needs food that is not their standard. That one varies highly by location, but if it helps anyone to know 'Ohana is a no-go on getting something from next door or downstairs in our experience. They did great with allergies, but my selective eater it was a flat out no both times we tried. (it's a medical condition, and he vomits if he tries to eat something wrong so it's beyond "kids will eat when hungry") Last trip my 13 year old didn't come with us because we knew going in it comes out to around $80/pp after tax and tip and he literally can't eat anything they serve, so he did a Captain Cook's pizza while we went out to dinner.

We like Ohana but it's definitely pricey. I brought my two college aged children there. We ate and 1 alcohol drink each. I paid $320 to each (including tip). Like it but definitely pricey!

Definitely not worth going to Ohana's if you aren't going to eat the meats, maybe if you eat alot of shrimp. $85 a person with tip.

Inconsistent is probably the most accurate. But I have never had those inconsistencies make it an absolute terrible meal. I hate there twice last year. First the beef was horrible, the chicken was fantastic. Second the chicken was awful, the beef was fantastic. The noodles, salads, dumplings are all about the same. The second time I asked for a modified salad because of an aversion not an allergy and they were grumpy about that. I am not going to lie about an aversion because it is not medically threatening.

I love the “hate there twice” sentence

We ate dinner at O'hana a few years ago and thought it was just OK, nothing special. Be sure to review their current menu/prices as they have made changes to the entrees offered. I think sometimes people don't realize this isn't a place where you order off of a menu and then wait 30+ minutes for your plate to be prepared. Everyone is served the same items. Some comment about feeling rushed, but that wasn't our experience. If you have small children, the format is great since they tend to get restless waiting for the food to be prepared.

Most Disney restaurants are pricey for what they offer. Part of what you are paying for is the atmosphere in addition to the food.

'Ohana used to be one of my favorite places to eat. We even held our wedding rehearsal dinner there in 2010 for 40 friends and family.

Unfortunately, it is not what it once was. We ate there for dinner last month (following a 6 or 7 year break) and I left feeling disappointed. The noodles and dumplings were OK, but they were very slow in bringing requested refills. The meats were not great, especially for the price of the meal. They dropped a bowl of each on the table and ran off. The beef was soooo overdone and tough and again, they were super slow to return with requested medium-rare. Chicken was OK, but nothing great. And the shrimp sat untouched because we don't care for shrimp. Such a waste of food and if they had asked us first, we would have declined. I liked it more when they circulated around the room with skewers so that you could pick what you wanted and it was usually hot and fresh. My husband ate only a few bites of dessert (the kids and I don't care for it).

This is a pricey place to eat, although we knew that going into it. I really wanted to love it as much as I used to. I don't think we'll return any time soon.

Dinner restaurants that hit it out of the park for us last month:

- Narcoossee's (except that the food came out way too fast and we felt rushed)

- Steakhouse 71 (great food and service)
