Hello wondered if someone could help me. I am thinking of booking a Character dinner at the Crystal Palace for the twins birthday. However I am wondering what time to book the reservation for as I wanted the children to see the afternoon parade, followed by dinner then be out in time for the evening parade and the fireworks. How, long do people ususally spend at a character meal?

Am I right in thinking that they do do a character evening meal?

Again we are travelling in July.

Thanks Claire:D

....... yes you are right, they do have an evening character meal.

The afternoon parade is almost always 3.00pm but the time of Spectromagic depends on park close.

I think I'd allow about an hour for the meal which is quite generous, and I'd book a safe time like 5.30pm.

When in July are you going?

The Crystal Palace is a help yourself buffet meal so how long you take over the meal depends entirely on you. The characters go around the room constantly and it takes roughly and hour to meet them all.

How old will the twins be? Don't forget to call at City Hall to get their birthday pins. That way all the CM's and characters will know it's their birthday and make a special fuss of them.

CP is great, you will love it!

Hello Shirley and Sue
Thanks for your info. We are actually going on the 10th of July and returning on the 24th of July.

Am I right in thinking that there are two spectro shows?

The twins by the way will be 7 boy and girl, and I want the day to be as special as possible. However, I don't want them to be too tired to enjoy the evening so I thought we would get an early start, with an all you can eat breakfast to start and then leave the park about 11.30 for a rest and swim and then return in time for the 3pm parade. Then with dinner, the spectro parade and the fireworks it should hopefully end a very special day for them and Alex there older brother who can't be left out.

If you have any other ideas, I would greatly apreciate them, its just that I need to book 120 day ps now.

Hi Claire

Disney USUALLY run two Spectromagic shows in the summer, however they are doing a lot of swingeing cut backs at the moment, so you may have to be prepared. When we where there last year, SM parade was ONLY Friday and Saturday evenings (2 parades on the Saturday). That was May, so early in the season, but there has been some concern that during the busy Easter weeks this year, park hours have been slashed.

Unfortunately, when they run such few evening parades, it gets totally packed and you need time to stake a good spot! Allow an hour at least for this.....we did it in shifts, Hubby stayed with the buggy and I took DD to the stores etc etc.

HOPEFULLY, things will be running totally smoothly by July and you wont have to worry. It wont get dark til about 9pm in July so I wouldnt have thought they would hold a parade much earlier than that?? You might want your PS for about 6.30pm...a very popular time, so get booking!

THe Crystal Palace is a buffet, so you can take it easy or speed up! About 90 mins is a good time to allow (you might not get seated at your allocated time, usually a 10 min wait).....also if a character hasnt been to your table, mention it to your server (you will still have one for drinks) and they will nearly always make sure the character will get to you quick sticks!

Have a great time!
Allie
