We are considering dinner at Boma. Has anyone been there? What has your experience(s) been? There will be 8 in our dinner party(with 4 kids). Are there many 'kid friendly' foods?

We leave in 25 days and are tying up our loose ends. Can't wait!!

Thanks for an input!

Hi there...

My daughter (9) is the pickiest eater on the planet and was fine with Boma... they had fries, mac & cheese, spaghetti & meatballs, chicken strips, all kinds of fresh fruit, breads and desserts.. I think they even had PB&J sandwiches.

I enjoyed the more adventurous dishes.... and found everything I tried to be tasty and fresh. The have some odd (to me) dishes but I really enjoyed the avacado and citrus salad... also several soups.

This is a lively, busy, noisy place... you will get your exercise getting up again and again for different things (especially when helping kids) You might not have a lot of good quality time for conversation if people are getting up all the time... but you definately will enjoy the food.

Oh.., and I had the BEST Pina Colada here...;)

I've eaten dinner at Boma twice. The first time I ate there is was absolutely wonderful. The pork tenderloin that was on the menu rotation that evening was delicious! There was a lot of variety, even for picky eaters (I'm pretty picky myself, and not a terribly adventurous eater). The desserts are especially yummy. :) The 2nd time I ate there, there weren't enough meat choices for my taste. They didn't have any poultry dishes other than the rotisserie chicken they always have (I think they always have it), which I find a little bland. The main meat was prime rib, which I really don't care for (I'm not a big beef eater). They also didn't have the mahi mahi that evening either (something my mom was hoping for). I would still definitely eat there again, just be forewarned that the menu varies from day to day. Other than the meat variety, the rest of the food varieties were good both times. As far as food for children goes, I noticed that there were several kid-friendly choices: mac and cheese, spaghetti with meatballs, chicken fingers, etc. Give it a try! :)

Delicious, wonderful, my favorite place to eat. I can't wait to go back. Go and enjoy. Make your kids try some new things they will enjoy them.

Boma is very kid friendly. My 10 year old loves it.

However you may have an issue with your party size. I tried to book a party of 8 for dinner there, and WDW-DINE told me that the max Table size they have is 7 people. They wound up splitting us into two tables of 4. Which for my group wasn't a big deal.

Have Fun!!

Definately try it. My hubby and son are very picky and both found plenty to eat. If you have some people in your group who like to try new things, they will find plenty. The desserts by themselves are worth a visit!

We tried Boma for the first time this past trip (2 weeks ago). Excellent experience. Since we were meeting friends, we arrived early and viewed the animals in the Savannah, then met for drinks in the Victoria Falls bar while waiting for our PS. There was a good variety of food...I never got to try it all. My children, DS 3.5 and DD 5.5, seemed to gravitate towards the spaghetti and meatballs. And they ate a lot of meatballs, so they must've been pretty good!

My DD was chosen as Jr. Chef that night, which entailed going back behind the buffet line, meeting the chef, dipping strawberries in chocolate sauce then sprinkling with Mickey shaped sprinkles. She then received a certificate along with a photo of the chef. It was a wonderful memory!

This is one of my new favorite restaurants. We are not huge dessert people, but my husband still raves about the desserts. Everything was so good! My kids were DD10 and DS 5 at the time, both loved it. They both found plenty to eat.

when we ate there my 6 yo DD begged to go to Simba's cubhouse instead, which didn't cost much more than the kids buffet. she had a wonderful time, and we enjoyed some leisurely time to really experience the buffet and have a drink beforehand in the lounge and spend some time watching the animals.

DH and I enjoyed this too. Even though we told them it wasn't actually our anniversary day, we still got a song, special desserts and a cards signed by staff in their language.
We loved the food. I am not a big meat eater so can't talk about that. There were wonderful salads (one with chicken in it was great) and other hot dishes. I wasn't crazy about the zebra cakes everyone on this board seems to love but everything else was good. While I'm not big on buffets and could go down as a kind of picky eater we loved this. Atmosphere and all. Our PS was when they first opened for dinner so it was not loud or crowded.
If you ask for a recipe they will email it to you. Mine was there before I even got home.

We just got back from WDW on Saturday and had a final dinner at Boma on Friday night. It was my parents first time there and our second. We love it and it's now one of our favourites. Even my Dad who is extremely picky found lots to eat. My son was a very picky eater when we were there last year, but our server wouldn't allow it. She asked him if he tried hummus and he said no it looks yucky. She told him he had to try it for her and promptly brought him the flat bread and a sample of each of the hummus they had. He loved it (this time he had 2 plates of it). They have all kinds of kid friendly food, macaroni and cheese, good chicken fingers (all the adults had them too), crinkle cut fries, spaghetti and meatballs, and PBJ sandwiches (made with marble bread, really cool). My 8 year old DS only had chicken fingers, everything else was from the adult buffet, prime rib, flank steak, salmon, chicken, carrot and ginger soup (which he loves), cookies, brownies etc. Even the pickiest eater could find something. The only complaint that us meat and potatoes eaters had was the lack of "normal" potatoes. They only had potatoes with afritude (spicy roasted potatoes) and my Dad and I can't do spicy, they also had what looked like mashed, but weren't (yuck). I'm sure you will all be happy with Boma.
