We are not real adventureous eaters but we do like to try new things. Our son will be 12 and he is a pretty picky eater. He'd rather stick to burgers, chicken, pizzas, etc.

On our Animal Kingdom day, we are thinking about heading over to Boma for dinner.

I would love to hear your opinions and pics would be awesome!

I don't have any pictures but the buffet at Boma included chicken fingers, macaroni & cheese and other kid-type foods. He should find plenty there to keep him happy.

It's great at Boma! There are so many new things to try, plus a carving station for meat and potatoes. There's plenty of "ordinary" food there, too, like the chicken nuggets and french fries.

Our DD was a bit concerned, but was willing to try everything. She ended up loving one of the soups, a salad, and some other things on the main buffet, and so barely had any mac and cheese that night!

There were fruits, too, and many desserts to choose from.

It's definitely worth a try -- since it's a buffet, if he doesn't like something he can just go back and get something else.

Plus, the ambiance of Boma is great, and the AKL just blew us away as soon as we arrived -- definitely worth a visit. We almost backed out of this ADR and we were SO glad that we went!:)

I really do not like buffets, but Boma is amazing in terms of offerings and flavor.

Honestly, Boma and Jiko are two of the short list of reasons that we bought our DVC at AKV.

My family loves Boma but we are all very adventurous eaters. This year, we took another couple with us, not adventurous, and they did not care for Boma. The husband only eats chicken and he said the chicken from the meat station was very spicy and he didn't like it at all. I guess he could have eaten chicken fingers from the children's station but who wants to pay $30 to eat chicken fingers?

Boma (and Jiko) are easily our favorite meal when we head to WDW. While it's better to be a little adventerous, there will probably be enough things there that should satisfy the more picky eater. At the very least, you have the "kids" stuff and the meats that they carve are pretty tame looking. (Show them the dessert set up - that should get them!).

The flavors in some of the foods are fantastic. You should defnitely coax them to try a few bites of some of the other foods.

I am very picky and I can eat here not everything but enough for a picky eater.

We ARE adventurous eaters usually...and we seriously did not like Boma in September 2008 at all. Foods were either extremely spiced or totally tasteless bland...and the spice combinations which tasted just odd to us (like the BBQ ribs that turn out to not be "BBQ" ribs...they're red-hot cinnamon ribs...whew!) There were plain choices, but we could not get close to those sections because the place was packed, long lines, & many line jumpers the night we were there. Long, long lines at each area (waiters keep telling people to go to any area they want in any order "because there are no set lines here"...HA! 20-30-40 people in line! Desserts were good, but not worth the lines or the price.

I would not suggest Boma to anyone who classifies themselves as Not Adventurous eaters...

Boma is great. I love it. I also feel that even the not too adventurous eater would be fine there.

I have to chime in here and say that our extended family of 11 dined at Boma on our family trip in May of this year. We do have some picky adults as well as kids in our group (ranging in age from 1 to 56) and I have to say I wouldn't pay the money to take someone considered "picky" or "not adventurous" to this buffet a second time. I personally enjoyed it along with a couple of the other adults but to the others it was just ok and they weren't impressed with the different foods. I agree that the prime rib was Very Good! but the picky ones didn't find enough other foods to love along with it. IMO it's worth trying once - you might be pleasantly surprised - but after that I'd only recommend it for people who love the ambience of AKL and aren't worried about spending a lot of money for a meal they may or may not really love.

We were staying in two AKL Villas and so enjoyed the resort all week. It is definitely a resort worth exploring so to include a dinner at Boma to try it out wouldn't be a bad thing!

Whatever you do, enjoy your trip! Everyone's taste is different so it's hard to make a decision based on other people's experience.

I am a semi-adventurous eater and my DH is pretty adventurous and although we are glad we tried Boma for dinner we would not go back. We just did not care for the spices/sauces/etc. The soups and desserts are great though and may warrant trying it at least once. Good luck deciding!

Boma was a real toss up with our family. I absolutely loved it (one of my favorite WDW restaurants!), DH didn't care for most of the food, but he definitely got his money's worth with the prime rib! Our sons (then 16 and 12) loved the roasted chicken and prime rib as well (they did eat some mac n cheese, too...but no nuggets/fingers).

Overall, everyone found something new that they absolutely loved and something they didn't. None of us like lamb and there were a few dishes that night with lamb which we didn't care for. But even DH and DSs said it was one of the most beautiful restaurants and definitely some of the best service in all of WDW!

The dessert station is wonderful. They had some absolutely heavenly things there. That was my boys favorite thing!;)

BTW, we did overhear others saying that the food was way too spicy. We didn't think it was spicy at all...but we're from Louisiana, so we may be immune to it!

I am a picky eater because I am not big on meats except chicken and I found Boma to be wonderful! They had lots of flavorful choices and the desserts were just scrumptious!

Boma was just okay for us. After hearing rave reviews we were kind of disappointed.

However, the peanut rice and banana bread pudding were DELICIOuS!

Hmm, I'm thinking of booking Boma for our January trip but now I'm a little nervous. The reviews seem pretty blah... I don't know what to do now :confused3
