I'm trying to decide on where to eat and have narrowed it down to the following restaurants at a Monorail resort. It will be me, DH, DD 15, DS 11, and DD 13. We'll eat anything of quality.

GF Cafe
The Wave
Kona Cafe
WCC

:thanks:

I have eaten lunch at the GF cafe, and it was average, nothing to write home about. Can't speak as to anything they have for lunch. We absolutely love Kona. Have eaten breakfast and dinner there many, many times. It is one of our favorite resturants. Have not eaten at the other two. We have never had anything bad to eat at Kona on any of our numerous trips there.

Thanks! I'm leaning most towards Kona and the GF Cafe. WCC looks okay and I am not a big Contemporary fan.

WCC is not at a monorail resort, so that will have to be crossed off your list (But really fun, IMO!)

We loved Kona, the steak I had surpassed that of LeCellier the night before.

Can't vouch for the others yet, but GFC is on our ADRs for next trip.

Agree with the PP about Kona, steaks are very good and portions there are still pretty generous. It's been ages since we've eaten at GFC, never tried the Wave and WCC can be reached by water taxi from the CR if you want to dine there, but it's very loud and boisterous.......

::yes:: WCC is out! :laughing:

I have read only good things about Kona.

Love big portions as I usually share with one of the kids. An adult portion is just the right amount for my middle DD and I. :thumbsup2

If you and your DD like steak the teriyaki strip is a good shareable portion, my girls have split one before, it's like 12 or 14 ounces I believe. I ask for the mashed potatoes with it and I'm in heaven! DH and I used to share with our girls now that they're teens they'll either split a steak and get extra sides or they'll get filets :lmao: . When I was a teenager, I was never allowed to get a filet, now that's all my 14 YO will order!

I have to agree with the other posters. Kona is the definite pick for us. We do it every year. We love the dinner and the dessert choices. Love the Kona Cone.

Kona is a must for us every trip.

Do you prefer breakfast, lunch, dinner or all?

That's perfect to share. :thumbsup2 Our kids order whatever they want. My only request is that they eat it. ;) I hate when they order soda though. I despise paying $3.00 for .05 worth of soda. I'd rather them get a virgin pina colada or something because then they can have only one. No refills.

Kona Cone?

I hear Kona has great coffee too.

Kona is a must do for us for dinner. I've never done breakfast or lunch there. I love the crab cakes appetizer, the shrimp and scallops meal and the bread with macadamia nut butter is great! My husband ordered sushi from the Kona Island Sushi bar and enjoyed it as well. My daughter likes getting a few appetizers instead of an entree for her dinner.

Me and my DS love sushi. I didn't know they had a sushi bar. :thumbsup2

We have eaten at all of your choices. Without a doubt our favorite is The Wave. Nice quieter atmosphere, great steaks and great service!! Not as small child friendly but your kids are older. We LOVE IT!

Kona = good food, kind of loud. GF Cafe = ok food, fairly quiet, not bad. WCC = not on monorail, LOUD but fun with good food, chaotic!

The Wave's menu looks good. Is The Wave as nice as Cal Grill as far as attire goes?

WCC is not an option anymore. The menu doesn't look great and I hate those skillet type things.

Kona serves the same wings as 'Ohana or so it appears and my DS loves them.

We don't mind loud. I have to be in the mood for chaos.

Is 'Ohana not an option? Thats where I would eat.

We really like 'Ohana but have been twice and my goal this trip is to try all new restaurants. Scary, I know. 'Ohana is our traditional first night meal.

Kona gets my vote too. (and my sons.. he is 8 and loves it).

Kona seems to be the winner. I love the Poly atmosphere too. I wish they'd build DVC there. :hyper:

My vote goes to Kona.

Kona it is. I am dying to try their maca nut pancakes too. Maybe we'll have to do breakfast and dinner.

I wanted to check out the GF a little as the rumor is they are building DVC there but I won't go over without a reason.
