Dh and I *used to* eat out all the time and really enjoy eating out...but since the kids, we don't get out much alone....*sigh*

Well, I just decided to set up in-room sitting for our three tikes (ages 8 months, 2 and 4) for 1 night during our 10 day vacation...now I have to pick a restaurant for our dinner!!

I'm thinking California Grill...any thoughts? Good choice, or should we do something else?? We really like good food and like to try differnt foods, but we don't need anything as fancy as Victoria & Alberts.

Thanks!

There are a # of possibilities, but California Grill is a great choice. Fine view, good food.
We're going there ourselves on 9/28.

CA Grill is good; my personal favorite is Artist Point at WL. The food is wonderful, the service attentive, but not obtrusive and the atmosphere is very calm. Either one would be great, but if you've never been to Artist Point, I'd recommend giving it a try.

Artist Pointe is really good- my dh & I like to go there by ourselves. Also Palio's over at either the Swan or the Dolphin is wonderfully romantic ( a little pricey though)

There is nothing as fancy as V & A so don't worry about that. California Grill is my favorite. I go there everytime we visit WDW. It is fine dinning but you don't have to wear a suit and tie. Casual wear is fine and the food as far as I am concerned is the best at WDW as is the service. I would avoid the California Grill during the fireworks show, I understand it gets a little noisy at that time. The place opens at 5:30 and just makes for an enjoyable meal and evening. An excellent choice, others have suggested Artist Point which is another nice spot to dine. You can't go wrong with either one. They serve buffalo at Artist Point. Both restaurants are in outstanding settings also. My wife and I have reservations at California Grill, and Artist Point for our next visit in October. I love fine dinning.Have fun.

My two favorites are California Grill and Flying Fish Cafe. Here are links to both restaurants.

California Grill

Flying Fish Cafe

I prefer the food at the Flying Fish (they have the best steak I've ever had), but the view from the California Grill is incredible (and very romantic).

Artist Point is very nice, especially if you like salmon. The copper river maple glazed salmon is great.

How about Jiko at AKL. To me it is more romantic than CG...maybe just because it's darker:D . But the food is very good and it's fun to see the lodge if you haven't done that yet.

I have to go along with the majority here and say Ca. Grill too - it's *my* personal favorite at WDW, and I think it's a perfect spot for a romantic night! It *is* a bit noisy at times, but if you want a gorgeous view, and amazing food, wine and service, this is the place to go!

If the Grill doesn't grab you, I'd also suggest Jiko at AKL - it's a very close 2nd for my fav.; it's also got wonderful food - some a bit unusual, but all very tasty. The servers here are extremely helpful in deciphering the menu & wine list should you need assistance, and the restaurant itself is lovely!

Thanks all! I made a PS for California Grill. Sounds like it will be great. I like that it is easy to get transportation to it (where the others would take a few stops or a cab). And, I love a good view and we don't mind noise (too much) :smooth:

The other suggestions sound great, too. Wish we could do a few more meals, but we're keeping it to just 1 night out (since it is our family vaction - and we are going to be paying for in-room care, which I am a little nervous about anyhow :( ...). As the kids get older, on future trips, we will be able to try more restaurants, because they can go to the kids clubs (not an option right now with a soon to be 4 yr old, a just turned 2 yr old, and a 7 month old infant...).

And Jiko is out for this trip because the night we are getting away from it all, my parents will be at the AKL...which doesn't make for the getting away from it all part *LOL*!! We have been to Boma, but not Jiko....next time, maybe. (We're spending 5 nights with my parents at the All Stars, then they are heading to AKL for 2 nights and we're heading to POFQ for 5 more nights!).

Well, thanks again!
