I have been thinking about the dining plan and its affect on regular dining.I think if more people who are not on the dining plan and are not happy with a meal send it back and complain about the quality maybe something will be done.
Also if more people go off property{I know this is hard with young ones} This may also help improve the quality.
We have never used the DDP but if you are paying a set price and can order more than you can eat people usually will not complain no matter how good or bad as long as the food keeps rolling in.

Novel idea ... but I had no complaints about any meal I ate at WDW :thumbsup2 ! I am not a very picky person. I really find very little in life to complain about as far as meals even outside of WDW ... I just kind of go with the flow. I thought all our meals at WDW met my expectations. Yes, some were better than others but spaghetti is not going to be as good as filet!

Next trip we are not getting the DDP because we are spending some days outside WDW and we just eat way too much on the plan ... but most likely will have no complaints even when we pay OOP. It is not in my nature.

I don't see many changes in store regarding dining. I think the DDP is going to be around for quite some time. But am willing to read what others think.

oooo - off topic -- I just saw you are in Cape May. My mom lives there. I have been going to Cape May for 40 years since my grandmother lived there too!!! Beautiful area  -- my second home (or third if WDW is #2!).

And I think that's the most critical point: The way dining is at WDW is a reflection of what guests (as a whole) want. So the best way to get Disney to change isn't to complain to Disney, but rather to get guests, as a group, to change their preferences.

I probably don't have complaints because I never knew WDW BEFORE the DDP. I bet people who knew what it was like before see the biggest change.

But with the amount of people I saw and the amount of people waiting to get into the restaurants, I just don't see changes coming. Was there a time when the restaurants were not filled? What was that like?

Absolutely. It wasn't that long ago, really, that Disney had a very hard time keeping their restaurants sufficiently patronized. Many of the restaurants that are packed solid today were walk-ins just five years ago. As much as some folks don't like the changes, you cannot argue with the successful ascendancy most of the restaurants have enjoyed.
