what restaurant(s) seem to be best for teens. DS(13) isn't thrilled about character dining.

Over the years we've taken our daughter, who is now 18, and her best friend to several WDW restaurants. Their favorites have been Beaches and Cream (at BC/YC) and Rainforest Cafe (both at AK and DTD).

I know you said that your son is 13 but is that it or is there other teens because as a teen I love all the restaurants at disney. Including character ones. they are my favorite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :wizard:

Write back with more details please!!!!!! :teeth:

How about ESPN? Lots of sports memorabilia and of course, plenty of tvs to watch any game imaginable.

Another option might be Planet Hollywood. While I do see mixed reviews on this one, we always enjoy the food here and a teen might be "impressed" by all the movie props around, and the loud music too.

I havent been to these, but how about Sci Fi Dine In for movies? Or Whispering Canyon Cafe for the antics?

I'd also recommend the 50's Prime Cafe at MGM. Went there in 2000 with kids 14, 10, 9, 7 and 4...and we all enjoyed it equally! :cheer2:

Sci Fi at MGM, Whispering Canyon Cafe and San Angel Inn in Mexico in Epcot. My 15 yo DD loved these.

No he is the only one. He is just at that point where he thinks he's not a kid anymore. I love the character meals myself. Which one character meal do you prefer. I would like to do at least one and I am trying to decide where he'll have the best time. I would prefer Cinderella, but I know he'll hate that.

He might enjoy Cinderella more than you think. ;)

My DS 12 really likes Sci Fi. And he is willingly joining his little sister 5 at the Princess Breakfast. I gave him the choice but he said he likes the French Toast. I'm sure that's why! :teeth:

How about Teppanyaki? We'll be taking our DSs ages 16 and 13 there in July. I think it'll be fun for all of us to have the chef cooking right at our table :)

We're also going to dine at Boma, Ohana, Whispering Canyon, Sci-Fi, Garden Grill, Kona Cafe, and still trying to decide on the rest!

We've done Planet Hollywood and the Rainforest Cafe before and since we can dine at those restaurants at many different locations, I'm trying to stay mainly with Disney restaurants.

Happy planning :)

My teens, DD14 & DD15, LOVE Sci-Fi and still ask to go to character meals!! Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace top their lists!! :cheer2:

Our DD is 15 and her favorites are:

MK - The Plaza
AK - RFC
MGM - 50's Prime Time (loves it)and SCI - FI
Epcot - Rose & Crown
Resorts - Spoodles, Beaches & Cream, Olivias

We tried Wispering Canyon last trip and DD was appalled by the wait staff behavior. She wanted to leave before our entrees even came out. So alot just depends on the personality of your teen. Good luck and remember not to take it personally when he critisizes your choices. This too shall pass. ;)

DD is almost 14 and her most requested places are:

O'Hana
RFC
Sci-Fi Diner
Teppanyaki

She used to like 50's PTC. She loves green beans but not the kind they serve. Our uncle took them away and brought them back covered in whipped cream and wanted her to eat. LOL She was NOT pleased.

She humors me with character meals.

My DS now thinks he is "too cool" for character meals. His favorites are: RFC, ESPN and Sci-Fi. He just advised me that he is now old enough to make all of our WDW meal decisions...I am fearing 1 1/2 weeks of nothing but pizza, burgers and chicken tenders! princess: pirate: :earboy2:

My ds13(going on 30) loves Sci Fi, ESPN, RainForest Cafe, San Angel, FF, Palio, YSH and his favorite, BlueZoo. He absolutely hated 50's Prime Time. Although he proclaims himself 'too old' for a character meal he will do one each trip "for" me. I get him to do it my asking him to take pictures and of course he ends up loving it. We always do one breakfast at CP. :Pinkbounc

My two teen's (15 and 17) favorities are Teppanyaki, Whispering Canyon, Rainforest, Kona and Fresh. The younger one likes 50 Prime Time and Trails End. The older likes Wolfgang Puck and Big River Grill.

We have 3 teen ds too. Their favorites are espn and rainforest. They all hated whispering canyon and asked never to return there again. They will eat at chef mickeys and crystal palace. They all go for the food now. I make them take a picture with the characters. If its just your l ds, I wouldnt focus on the characters, focus on the food, then maybe you can get a pic etc. of him if that is what you are looking for, like oh, everyone else here is doing it too. I am doing a character breakfast too somewhere, maybe gf. If you want the entertainment factor then how about sci fi or prime time. We have also been to coral reef. They were disappointed that we didnt get a tank table but they liked the entertainment factor of that one too. Good luck deciding where to eat.

and they have requested ..

Le Cellier
Hollywood and Vine
Breakfastasaurus
Mexico
and Cosmic Rays..(haha)
