has anyone tried this experience...trying to find a fun and new thing to do for my FIL's birthday in January that would top my MIL's dinner with Cinderella and a super duper chocolate cake at 1900 Park Fare...just looking for some input...

It is truly wonderful and well worth the money! :lovestruc :teeth:
Your server first tells you where you are sitting in the "arena", which by the looks of things there is not a bad seat in the place! Then they explain about the buffet that is very good, they have cute shamu shaped chocolate covered cookies! Yum! :cloud9: While you eat Shamu is swimming around the arena popping up every once and a while, I truly think that he must know when people are around and pops up to see everyone. There is a trainer that will introduce "Shamu" and then towards the end of the dinner they explain more about the whale that is there and what behaviors they have learned while being at Seaworld. The "show" is about 15-20 minutes and is GREAT!!! :Pinkbounc Get your cameras ready for those close encounters! You will not get splashed but water may get onto the floor and they warn you to keep belongings in a chair because of this. :umbrella:
It was a highlight of our trip and we will certainly be going again next time! You will not be dissapointed if you enjoy "Shamu"!

You will find more threads about this on the SeaWorld board...Enjoy! :goodvibes

We did the dine with Shamu back in April 2003 and we loved it as well. I think it was still fairly new back then but I don't think the format has changed much. There is only a limited number of tables available and they all allow you to be very close to the trainers and whales. We had a large group of 14 with ages that varied from very young to adult and this was a big hit with everyone. I think it's a great dinner to try at least once during a visit. Good luck and I hope you and your family enjoy it too.

Haven't been to the one in Orlando, but did the Dine with Shamu in San Diego in 2003. It was great. We all loved it! 6 people ranging in ages from 5-70! I second onlyoneforme, keep your cameras ready!
