We are WDW vets making our first trip to DL in June. I am thinking of booking a character meal to make it easier to get some character photos, without waiting in lines. My favorite is Mickey, am I correct that there is only a breakfast with Mickey, no dinner? Is Goofys kitchen the only character dinner option (other than the new Ariel's dinner)?

Thanks!

You are correct. Only Surf's Up breakfast with Mickey in the Paradise Peir Hotel is with Mickey.

Also that only Goofy's Kitchen has dinner with chracters and Ariel's will also starting June 15th.

As a WDW vet that has been to many character meals there, I will tell you that Minnie's Breakfast in DL, and dinner at Goofy's Kitchen at DLH are both better character meals than any I have ever been to at WDW. (We saw 11 characters last time we had breakfast at Minnies and 9 the time before that). We've never seen Mickey at either of those meals though. Ariels is exactly like the Princess meals at WDW.

We just did Surf's Up at Paradise Pier hotel this past weekend, adn I have to say we were pretty impressed. While we saw fewer characters than we normally see at Goofy's, the interaction was better. We had Goofy, Pluto, Mickey, Minnie, and Stitch. We had characters visit the table, the characters danced and surfed with the kids on the stage, then at the end of the meal, characters just played with the kids in the open area.

I've done many character meals at wdw and all but storytellers at dlr many times and I can tell you that the surf's up meal and interaction is by far the best. We were there for almost 2 hrs (we went on a non park day) and my dd played and danced and goof'd around with the characters constantly. And, the food is not bad at all and much better than the minnie and friends which always makes me a little sick.

My family has enjoyed dinner several times at Goofy's Kitchen we really enjoy the food. The best time was when we sat near the entrance and exit door for the characters. My girls are 12 and 14 and we are going to WDW this summer, their request was to go to character meals. I guess that says how much they have enjoyed Goofy's Kitchen. By the way Goofy's Kitchen is not in Disneyland but at the Disneyland Hotel. You can go there the first day of your visit if you don't have tickets for that day. I hope we are not disappointed with our character meals at WDW after reading the comments here. Have a great trip!
