Ok, I have a question. My son eats like a pig at 6. We are going to use the dining plan but my dh and i want to pay for his meals and use the meals for us when we do character dining and so on. Is this ok?? :confused3

Also, is there a differncein pay between the kids plan and a grow up plan???

Adults pay $38 a day for the Dining plan children age 3-9 pay $11. There is a substantial difference in the cost of a child dining plan and an adult dining plan.

If you are talking about using your son's credits for the adults, that is most definitely NOT okay. There was a loophole in the plan for a while, but that door has been slammed shut. You may want to read the FAQ thread at the top of this page and the DDP brochure.

You may have trouble doing this. You are not allowed to use the a $10.99 child credit for an adult meal. The CM's may give you a difficult time, or just not allow it.

Sorry if i asked a question already asked. I have not been here recently. I meant that if i buy my son an adult meal plan can i use his for me and my dh and pay for his meals. Thanks for the underlining cynicism!! :furious:

IF you make a reservation and tell disney he is 13(or whatever) and pay ADULT price for him(that includes ADULT TICKET and EXTRA ADULT IN ROOM FEE), I do not see why it would not be allowed.

I guess we're all getting too jaded around here. Anyway, where there might be a problem with your plan is that you will also have to get your park tickets based on the age you tell them your son is. So, if you tell them he's over nine just to get an adult DDP for him, then you'll have to pay for adult tickets too. I know the difference in the meal plans will be about $30/day...don't know about the park tickets because it will be based on the number of days you'll be there.

There is no extra room fee for a 10 y/o (the youngest age for the adult dining plan). Park tickets, yes, would be a problem.

I see you have a 2 y/o, also? Will he/she be 3 by the time you travel? If not, maybe you could pay OOP for the 6 y/o and give the kid's meal to the 2 y/o. If she/he will be 3, also, then maybe just supplement the 6 y/o's meals with "extras" (some fries or carrots at CS, for example)? Especially for TS, where you will have two adult appetizers and two child appetizers between the four of you, plus entrees and desserts.

If you make your child older than he really is, there is no going back as far as future trips to WDW. He will age accordingly. Also you will have to purchase adult park tickets to go along with his adult meal plan.

I would buy the plan for the correct number of adults and the child. At the restaurants get 2 adult meals and one child meal and if your son is still hungry after sharing the adult meals with him, then buy him something extra and pay out of pocket for it.

I see what you mean about the adult ticket for my 6 year old with park ticket too. I guess we will have to plan accordingly. My 2 y/o will be three but he is not joining us. He is afraid of fireworks and does not care for the carachters yet. So maybe next time, but thank you all for your help without the atitude. Sometimes we don't catch the "Other" thread and have to ask the question again. :teeth:

That is what this board is for.

And there have been opinions about the use of the dining plan since it started, and everyone should be allowed to express their own opinion. The problem is when persons feel that their own "opinion" is fact.

You misunderstood me. What I was saying was that you asked the question, and people answered the question for you. So there would be no reason to keep the thread open any further. This is a very hot subject on the DIS, as you saw from the two messages before mine.

As it is, in this message you mention that you want to purchase your six year old an "adult" Dining Plan. You didn't mention that as part of your OP, so you can understand why the first three people replying to you responded as they did. Before you call it "underlying cynicism" read the boards for a while, especially the archives. You may be shocked to learn how many people have vigorously advocated what you yourself didn't even think of. It is sad to say. :(

Have you even consider doing ONLY buffet TS for all of you. I am quite sure that your DS(6) will have plenty of food to eat. Problem solved and everybody go to WDW happy!

But not with the correct, or should I say only answer. At this time the credits are still pooled, you may use them as pooled credits if you choose, until the time that Disney separates the credits. Not trying to start up a debate again, but not everyone agrees that there is only one answer to this question.

Actually, if you read OP's clarifying post, they are not talking about using "pooled credits." We all thought that was the original question, but we misunderstood their post.

They're wanting to know if they can buy the adult plan for their 6 year-old.

Luckily, Disney has answered the question. Enforcement is not necessary for something to be a rule. Enforcement is not necessary for patrons to be obligated to comply with a rule.
