Dining with child under 3

I have noticed that most of the menus I have checked out show the childrens menu is for children over 3. My son is 1 yo and eats some table food. Can he eat off my plate or will I have to order something from the kids menu for him? Im not sure how this works at WDW restaurants... anyone who has dined with a toddler under 3 know what I should expect?

At Disney, little ones are welcome to eat off of your plate or you can order & pay for something of their own. When we were there with our DGS2, they always brought him an empty plate to make sharing easier. At CRT, they gave him a complimentary little platter of buttered noodles. At Disney buffets and family style places, he can eat anything he wants to his little heart's content for free.

He can eat off your plate and if you're at a buffet you can get him his own plate.
