My family and I are schedule for Lunch With An Imagineer at the Browny Derby in June. We are SOOOO excited!!! But...one question...

We'd normally be running the parks in shorts and sandals...but that seems underdressed when the menu includes something like Lobster Bisque. Can someone tell me what appropriate attire is? It's easy enough for me to wear a casual skirt, but my 12 year old daughter and her buddy are going as well. Obviously if I tell them to put on a skirt, they're going to decide I'm clueless and have lost my mind. But if YOU GUYS tell them they've got to wear a skirt and fold their napkins, they're more likely to pay attention. (Does anyone else have preteens...is it just me...??? :sad2: ) On the other hand, if shorts are OK (it IS Disney, and it WILL BE June) then that's peachy.

So, everyone give me your 2-cents-worth. Heck, while we're at it...anyone have any suggestions on preteens??;)

I went last September and I wore shorts. I do not even take a skirt to WDW and the only long pants I wear are on the plane. It is just too humid:eek:
I really enjoyed the meal and the discussion, It was great:yay:

I would split the difference and tell them they can wear shorts (after all, the restaurant IS in the parks) but that they still have to fold their napkins.

as it's a signature restaurant, it WOULD have a dress code if it were OUTSIDE the parks. but since it's in a park, it doesn't.

use your own discretion. they're not gonna refuse your money.

I've done the lunch with an Imagineer three times now and it never once occurred to me to dress up -- guess I'm just uncultured.

But you are dining in a theme park. The Hollywood Derby is a nice restaurant and the waitstaff is elegantly dressed but all of the other diners are just theme park guests.

The Imagineer has always looked "appropriate" but never suit and tie. It is an informal meal and meant to be FUN! So I wouldn't sweat the skirt thing.

Unless of course you are just trying to foster a "special experience" then by all means wear a skirt if you like.

I would let your pre-teens know that they are expected to be on their best behavior. Maybe have a question or two that they would like to know about Imagineering but not to be rude and have a side conversation when everyone at the table is trying to listen. To not monopolize the Imagineer's time. But I'm sure all will be having a great time and not even need this advice.

Laughing out loud! Thank is SO great. Somehow I think you must KNOW my daughter!! :rotfl:

Thanks Butterfly (and everyone else!) This is exactly what I needed to know. We'll have lessons on proper conversational ettiquette...but won't worry about the shorts.

In this case...in June at WDW...it's don't sweat the small stuff.
