Forgive me if this question is stupid but....

I was just surfing the web and discovered something mentioned on allears.net that on select days at the Hollywood Brown Derby, you can have lunch or dinner with a Disney Imagineer as a guest at the meal?

I wasn't sure how outdated the page was so I have to ask: Are they still doing this? It doesn't seem as though they are. I searched the official Walt Disney World site for any mention of it and there was nothing. Anybody have any idea? Thanks.

We did lunch with an Imagineer in Aug. '07, and it was great. My DS 16, hopes to become an Imagineer, so we did it mainly for him, but my 11 yo DD loved it to. We had lunch at the Brown Derby with Kevin James, a senior graphic designer, and it worked out great for my DW because she is also a graphic designer ! We made ressies in advance, the lunch can be up to 8 people I believe (we had 8, our family of 4 plus a family of 3 and a single). It was very informal and everyone had a great time. The other 2 groups that were there had done it before, one family repeatedly. Everyone received name tags that said "I had lunch with an Imagineer " with your name on it, a personalized menu, and a plate signed by the Imagineer. All day long people were stopping us and asking where we got the tags ! It was a great time, and we will do it every trip from now on. Oh yea, the food was great, too. Check out allears.net, click on dining, then scroll down on the left, and you will find Dine with an Imagineer. Good luck !! :thumbsup2

DW called Thursday 03/20/08 and got our ADR with the Imagineer. We been wanting to do this since we read about this. We got our ADR for May 19,08 for lunch.:woohoo: Now the hard part what questions to ask? Any suggestions out there from the great DISSER. :confused3

Here's the info, taken from mousesavers.com:

"Dine With an Imagineer
If you are interested in how Disney Imagineers create their magic, you may want to consider one of the special "Dine With an Imagineer" opportunities at Walt Disney World. There aren't any discounts available, but how often do you get to experience something like this?

The meals are limited to 8 guests plus an Imagineer (you may be seated with other parties if you have less than 8 people) and last a minimum of 90 minutes. While children are allowed to attend, Disney recommends this experience for guests 14 and older. Guests order from a special limited menu.

There are two options for dining with an Imagineer:

Lunch With an Imagineer - offered at 11:30 am most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, in the private Bamboo Room at the Brown Derby in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Adult (10 and up) price is $60.99 plus tax and gratuity. Child (ages 3-9) price is $34.99 plus tax and gratuity.

Dinner With an Imagineer - offered at 5:30 pm every other Thursday at Artist Point in Wilderness Lodge. Adult (10 and up) price is $89 ($110 with wine pairings) plus tax and gratuity. Child (ages 3-9) price is $40 plus tax and gratuity.

You can book this experience up to 60 days in advance by calling (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). Prepayment is required and will be forfeited if you don't cancel at least 48 hours in advance."

We did lunch with an imagineer in Dec 2007. It was great! Our imagineer, Kevin Thomas, happened to be from our home town and an Ohio State grad. My DH and I are both OSU grads and our DS is a junior there now,so when Kevin autographed our plates he added "Go Bucks!" :thumbsup2

I would highly recommend this, but be aware that they are apparently enforcing an age limit of 14 for kids since this is a long meal - our lunch lasted almost 2 1/2 hrs.

We just did it this February. It was very interesting. Our imagineer was Alex Caruthers, who is the Art Director at the Magic Kingdom. He was very informative and answered questions about all of the parks.

Just a heads up, I had tried to book this for our trip next week at 60 days out as recommended, but even tho allears says "recommended 14 & over" they refused us because my DS is not 14 yet
