We are headed to Disney in just a few days :cool1: We are all signed up for free dining except for our 4 yr old nephew who will be joining us a few days in the parks. My question is, Does he have to order off the menu during our table service meals or can he just eat off of our plates? He is a very picky eater and ordering him a meal would be a waste most of the time.

Thanks in advance

In menu-service restaurants a child can eat off an adult plate. Anything ordered from the menu must be paid for OOP. If a buffet (or other all you can eat) the meal must be paid for.

Thanks for your help. Kind of what I thought, but wanted to be sure :thumbsup2

I would also add that at restaurants not owned by Disney they may not allow you to share with him, especially because he's not using a dining plan and the rest of you are. Some of them give anybody using a dining plan a hard time with sharing meals while others only do so when the additional person not ordering is paying OOP while everybody else is using a dining plan.

Technically, since he's not using a dining plan you're not supposed to share but I really don't see a Disney owned restaurant objecting since we're talking about a 4 year old.

Worst case scenario, order him a side of french fries or cup of soup.

Good idea, thanks! I am not trying to break any rules here, he is just a picky, light eater. I hate paying a ton for him to waste food.

Can you add him to your reservation? Since he would be Free it might make it less complicated since he will be with you.

The way I'm reading the OP's comments, it seems like the 4yo is only going to the parks with them on some of the days (like maybe he is from the Orlando area and has an AP). Aadding him to the resort reservation would not be "free" as they would need to buy him park tickets as park of the package. Also, depending on where they are staying onsite, adding him may interfere with room occupancy levels.
