My husband and I are taking our 2 sons (Jacob 1 yr. old and Joseph 2 yr.old) to WDW the week of Labor Day this year. It is right before Joseph turns 3 yrs. old and I've trying to take advantage of as many things free for him as possible. Looking for dining ideas where both kids can eat for free.

There are many character meals with buffets available throughout the parks & resorts. I believe that children under 3 are free at these meals, so you would just have to pay for you & your husband - what a deal!

We will be going to WDW in October with a 4 and 2 year old, and will be hitting many of these types of meals. The two year old will be free, and both kids will have more food options than just hamburgers, hot dogs, or chicken nuggets...maybe they'll even eat some fruit or veggies.....

I've scoured these boards for dining tips and many people recommend the Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys, and the Garden Grill @ Epcot. Just make sure that your kids can handle the characters and aren't afraid! Crystal Palace has Pooh & Friends - most little ones love them!

We took our daughter when she was 2.5yo. All the buffets are free for children under 3. At that time we ate at O'hana character breakfast and it was terrific. DD was so busy with characters that she ate very little. Our wonderful server gave us a juicebox and banana to take with us because she knew she would be hungry soon. The only character she was apprehensive about was Goofy. She loved the others. We took her again in March, and she loved all except Captain Hook, Rafiki, monkey from Jungle Book & a tall bear a(??).

As far as other meals, I often shared a portion of my meal, or odered her just a cup of soup, or a side of mashed potatoes or green beans. To be honest, I don't think the child ate lunch (at age 2.5) the entire time we were there, as she always slept through lunch and we would end up buying chicken nuggets or something for her later.

We are going the end of Sept with our 3 DS's 1,2, and 5, so like you trying to take advantage of the "under 3 is free" and 1/2 price airfare. Good to know buffets are free under 3

Stick with Buffet and counter service except for the character meals. They are very prompt in serving, plus there is a lot for the kids to look at. We wasted a perfectly good meal at Brown Derby as part of the Fantasmic Dinner Package with my 2yo. I chased him outside the whole time. DH and DS ate peacefully. Avoid any sit down that is not served fast. Some are like Whispering Canyon at WL. Even with getting the kids meals out 1st and fast and ice cream for dessert during our entree at different places, I was miserable. Always ask for the kids meal to come out as soon as it is ready. Good luck.

They also eat free under three at the Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. What a deal!

Most of the counter service meals are large enough that my (then) 8 and 5 yo could share a meal and be full. the pizzas are a great deal (available in most of the parks) and run around $6. I could split one with my 2 yo and add a garden salad and be satisfied. If your 1 yo isn't eating much solids, you can always order a kid meal for yourself (there is plenty there) and eat his or share it with your 2 yo.

I second the Crystal Palace character meals for that age!
