My son and I (his mother) are making a trip to WDW this fall. We will have the DDP and I am trying to plan TS meals. We have eaten at Boma and Chef Michey's before, and for old times sake will be doing them again. I would like your advice if the others that I have chosen will appeal to a 12 yo boy alone with this  mother. Keeping in mind that I just love Chef Mickey's and he did too when last there, but then he was only 6.

We are planning on eating at Whispering Canyon, Prime Time 50's, Liberty Tree Tavern, O'hana's and Alfredo's (we both love pasta).

Thanks for your help :sunny:

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I have a 12 yo son of my own and we've eaten at all of your choices except Alfredo's and he would happily return to any of them. In fact, I just had him take a look at your post and he thought it all sounded good.

Enjoy your planning!

Well my 12 year old's pick for this trip was The Sci Fi- he liked it much much better than The Prime Time. His other choice for our trip was the Coral Reef- he likes the tank and the make your own sundae for dessert!

I would suggest the ESPN rest. at the Boardwalk.
We loved the Rainforest at the Animal kingdom and DTD.

My son is 14, here's a list of the places he enjoyed on our April 2005 trip. (We were on the dining plan)

Sci Fi
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Tappenyaki
Rose and Crown
Cape May Cafe (dinner)
Ohana- I don't think he'd like the new menu

He wants to try Planet Hollywood and Brown Derby during our next trip. We tried Rainforest Cafe in 2004, he loved it.

We tried Beaches and Cream during our very first trip. He wants to go back there just for the Kitchen Sink.

My son is 14 but he still enjoys the character buffets. He's not interested in autographs, he just loves all the desserts and fruit. :cheer2:

I'm a single mom, so it's just the two of use when we vacation.

No matter what you decide, I'm sure you both will have a great trip.

:thumbsup2
We leave in 8 days, I have all our ADR's in place. By going through some of the menus with my DS, we decided on what I hope are some good places to eat. We will do our two favourites, Boma and Chef Mickey, and try some new ones, Coral Reef, LTT, Whispering Canyon, 50's PrimeTime and GF Cafe for the chocolate foundue dessert. He has promised to try some new things and I have promised to let him eat what he wants. Should work out good, don't you think :cheer2:

have a great time. sounds like you will be eating well.

My DS12 LOVES Whispering Canyon, Ohana's...
He liked Sci-Fi a lot better than 50's Prime Time... he liked the food, just didn't "get" the whole 50's thing. LOVED the Sci-Fi atmosphere!
You will have a great time with any of it! I think it is such a great age for enjoying the parks AND dining experiences! :cool1:

DS ate at all your choices except alfredo's at 12 and liked them all. He also loved Rain Forest Cafe. Now at 14 he's more about the food and has chosen a few more upscale and steak places for our Jan trip

Last time to WDW we ate at Sci-Fi, which we did love. We have a Rainforest Cafe in Niagara Falls nearby. We are very much looking forward to the new places we are going to try, and of course our all time favourites. :wave2:

Sci Fi gets my vote and DS loved the tanks and the divers at Coral Reef his Dad's dinner was a mess but DS and mine were fine! He loved to see the sea turtle and noticed several teens dining there too!

Have fun!!!

12 year old boy? I've got one of those! :teeth:

House of Blues (with a trip to the gift shop)
Rainforest
Crystal Palace with Pooh (even though he wouldn't admit it)
Teppanyaki (if he'd like Japanese hibachi food)
Sci Fi
Ohana
The steakhouse at the Contemporary (monorail runs through there)
Or just an evening at the pool with pizza or take out sandwiches for DD.
