How does the dining plan work when you're traveling with another family, in separate rooms, and dining together? Are you able to use credits from both families for a meal?

TIA!

Donna

It's not a problem. Believe me when I say the CMs have seen it all. When you are seated the CM server will ask you about the DDP. Then tell them who is on what plan with whom. They may ask to see your card to check the A/C on the bottom. Then when you're done they will bring two separate bills for each to sign. We often dine with others and usually end up with 3 or 4 bills at the end, DDP for each family and DDE for non-DDP folks.

If both/all rooms are part of the same travel package or DVC reservation, the DDP credits are pooled. and accessible by/for everyone.

If (as I would guess is more common), each family has its own travel package or DVC reservation, DDP credits can only be used by/for the persons listed on that family's reservation. So, when members of separate families dine together, they'll need to get separate checks. But by and large CMs are very much used to this and can handle it with no problems.

ETA: I see this is not the OP's situation, but for anyone reading this thread for reference who has 2+ rooms on the SAME reservation and is expecting the DDP credits for both/all rooms to be completely pooled and accessible by/for all, read the connecting rooms thread for further info.

Thank you both! I was envisioning a dining-credit-pooling nightmare!

ETA - We're staying in separate rooms, so separate plans w/a different number of adults/kids on each!
