It's been confirmed by a moderator on the 9/14 cruise now that dining is once again at 6:00 and 8:30, at least on the Magic.

The test is over. :) Just FYI!

Was there any indications whether DCL is considering making it permanent? We are sailing next May and have requested early seating. But, if the test time becomes permanent, we'd need to change to late seating.

Figures, after we had to put up with the 5:30. I guess they got more complaints from main seaters then they every received from late. I know I was one!

5:30 was SO early for main seating, we were
really disappointed. That half-hour means
the world when a family is getting ready for
dinner, especially when you enjoy watching
the ship sail from the ports (e.g., Port
Canaveral and Castaway Cay) - we were
definitely changing to late seating next time, but
not anymore. Thank you Disney.

6pm is much better for us than 530.
we never changed to the early late seating because even that would have been too late.
But I envisioned myself running to dinner after we sailed away - hopefully not now
thanks dcl

Thanks Michelle!

Only if you were to announce that our cruise was FREE could I be any happier!!!!!

(You aren't planning to do that, are you?!)

Hugs!

Well, I have the late seating and a small child, I was looking forward to the earlier time. Oh well, 5 DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE!! It's not all that bad :)

According to our servers on the 9/7 cruise, they were switching back on the next (9/14) cruise because of the complaints from the early diners as well as the staff due to the fact that it was putting an additional amt. of pressure on them & lots of the servers were not getting their "afternoon sleep" that they need to stay cheerful during dinner.

Wow! All this time we've been talking about how it impacts the passengers and the shortening of that afternoon nap for the servers never crossed my mind. Now this is a good example to use in management class!

yes the dinner times have changed we were on 9/8 and dinner was 8:00 and then on 9/12 it was 8:30

That's awesome...

5:30 is just too early. The only problem is now we may still be eating dinner at sunset in Key West. We may have to eat fast that night so we can see it! But overall 6:00 is much better.
Thanks for this post.

I am so happy to hear this. On the 8/24 cruise we had the 5:30 seating, now I am NEVER late for anything, yet we always seemed to be arriving at 5:45 every night, and believe me we were not the only ones by far! By the time we were finishing our meal (along with many many others) they were frantically trying to set up for the next seating. I felt terrible for the waitstaff, and it was slightly less enjoyable for us.
I mentioned this to our server, while I was apoligizing for being late every night, and she said to make sure we commented about it on the comment cards, we did, as I am sure many others did. So when we go back in two years I will not feel guilty about being late (normally ridiculously early for everything) or rushed to get there on time. Perfect.
