I am looking for some casual dining suggestions for our family (13, 11, and 8yo). Sandwich shops, take-out, pizza would be perfect. Also any casual dining to each near the beach to watch the sunset?

Thank you.

In Carlsbad, we like Tip Top Meats (on Paseo del Norte, I believe). This is a well known German deli and restaurant. Fun shopping and lots of sandwiches, breakfast, hot plates. The market next door has good chips and salsa for snacking. We also eat at the Carlsbad Outlet Mall (also on Paseo del Norte, I think), which is a few minutes north of Tip Top. There is a Ruby's, Starbucks, Panda Express, Rubio's (I think), etc. Your kids may really enjoy Ruby's (50's diner with burgers and shakes and jukebox choices at the table).

1.) Bull Taco at Cardiff By the Sea. Taco stand with a deck over the Pacific Ocean.

2.) El Pescador in La Jolla. Order it to go and take it the beach a few blocks away.

3.) Burger Lounge in La Jolla. Same plan as #2.

4.) Swami's in Encinitas. Again, to go, and take across the street for a view of one of our better surf breaks here.

5.) Pizza Port in Encinitas. We go for the awesome beer. Pizza is decent enough.

6.) Blue Ribbon Pizza in Solana Beach. Awesome pizza. Not sure if they deliver to Pizza Port however :)

7.) Juanita's Taco Shop in Leucadia. Considered by some to be one the best shops in town. Pretty good. The Chilli Relleno burrito is top-notch. Get it to go, the beach a block away.

All are casual, cheap, and great for kids. Bonus - with the exception of the Pizza Port all are some of our better places to eat

We love Leucadia Pizzeria on Highway 101 in Encinitas. It's a little bit south of Carlsbad.

Pizza Port has great pizza, some video games, picnic table indoor seating and their own brewery. There are several of these along the coast, we usually go to the one in Carlsbad.

There is an Island burger joint in Carlsbad near the Flower Fields, Legoland and Costco. Great burgers!

Las Olas is a tasty mexican sit-down on Carlsbad Village Drive. There is another location further south in Cardiff that is steps away from the beach if you can drive.

Thank you for the suggestions. It sounds like we will be well fed during our trip.

I like Claimjumper as well. I would check out their website as they send email coupons all the time if you sign up.:)
