Dining suggestions during my FW stay?

The best Filet Mignon we had last year in any of the Disney Signature restaurants was at Citricos.

I posted this in another thread. I was actually quite surprised. I think we had at least 1 steak in each of the Signatures and felt Citricos was the best, with the nicest atmosphere (no rushing) and good service.

After reading thru your other replies, it doesn't surprise me that no one mentioned Citricos - because I think it's a hidden gem.

I've eaten in Yachtsman, and it's not what it used to be. Neither is California Grill. IMHO, both those restaurants have become too popular and busy.

I wasn't that thrilled with Artiste Pointe, but that's probably because I wasn't feeling that well.

Narcoossees has gotten better after a run of really lousy food.

Keep in mind that if you want a truly nice dinner you should select from the Signatures. The dining plan has ruined most, if not all, of the regular restaurants.

Where is Citricos located? I've not heard of it.:confused3

We've eaten in Artist Point some time ago..it was okay..but not worth a repeat visit.
We did eat in the Brown Derby last year, and while that is a signature..again, I'm not sure we'd go back. Maybe for lunch, but not dinner.

We haven't tried Narcoosee....looking at the menu that seems like a good option also.

Also not an issue to go off property..in fact sometimes we need a little Disney relief. Curious about the surrounding area.

Citricosis at The GF resort. The GF Cafe is also pretty good.

It's in the GF right next door to V&A. They may even share a kitchen.

I haven't eaten in the Brown Derby in ages and ages. Probably because I usually don't go to the studios around dinner time.

It had gone downhill for a while and last year it was good. Not outstanding, but good.

Sorry, can't help you much. Generally speaking, since the Disney restaurants aren't what they used to be, and we don't want to fine dine every night, we just eat whatever is around. Sometimes that means grabbing a burger in a park.

I really like the Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary. I think I read somewhere it is closed for rehab but, If it re-opens during your stay, it might be worth a try. We really liked it

Also..the Narcoosees...I've read that it can be noisey..is that true?

We've only been there once... and I didn't notice it being noisy. Of course, the time we went it was early evening and wasn't crowded. The food was to die for!

Please pity me...my DH has never been in to "fancy food" restaurants, so we don't get to them very often. DH considers Carrabba's a fancy restaurant!

My mother was a gourmet cook & even though she wasn't very "motherly", the eats at our house were always top notch. That was the one thing I did inherit from her...so if I want "fancy food" (as DH calls it), I have to cook it myself! Alas.... I truly enjoy other people cooking for me and being served properly, but I guess I set the pattern when I was a young, dumb bride. What was I thinking???

IIRC the CSH is gone for good.

Deb, the next time I'm down, I'd be thrilled to go out for "fancy food" with you! Hubby doesn't know what he's missing!:goodvibes

What me and DH have decided to do for F&W festival is not make any dinner reservations at all. We're having our "sit down meal" for breakfast every day, and doing "attractions" each morning, then we're spending the afternoons and evenings at the food tasting booths and food seminars. Something else you might try is the Party for the Senses. While it's out of our budget for this year, I've heard it's really good.

Unfortunately, he does know "fancy food". He's cheap - that's all!!!:rotfl: And if you have to wear anything but shorts & a tee - he's outta that one!

But that won't stop me from going to a "fancy" place with you!
