:wave2: Hey guys...I'm not sure if any of you are aware of this...but Bob and I are using Tina's
5th wheel in late Sept..to first week of October.

My question is this....This is our first Disney vacation with just "us". I know..some couples would opt for the Caribbean, or some other island get away...but I've always wanted to stay in the camping loops at FW..and this was a great opportunity. My hubby being the gentlemen he is and having spent the better part of 30 years putting me first has agreed to a FW vacation:lovestruc ..although he'd probably prefer the Poly or the WL! I want to plan a few dinners that would be different from what we've done when we've had the kids with us.(Although..who knows one of them could show up.. so we're keeping our site # a secret from them!:ssst: ) What would you all suggest?:confused3 Recommendations don't have to be on Disney property..we will have a car, and often enjoy visiting other areas. My husband likes nothing better than a good filet mignon. We've eaten in Le Cellier, and would like to do so again..but it looks as if the Food and Wine Festival is going on during our visit, so reservations there appear hard to come by. We will be celebrating our anniversary, and want to create some special memories. I should say..he's not big into dressing up..so probably wouldn't want to wear(or pack) a suit or sports jacket). I'm thinking business casual attire. Golf shirt, and slacks..that sort of thing.

OOOH OOOH Try this place... http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/dining/diningDetail?id=BigRiverGrilleAndBrewingWorksDiningPage

Big River Grille and Brewing Works... it is at the Boardwalk Inn, and has some great micro brews, and really good burgers! One of the best burgers I have every had on or off of WDW property...

Whispering Canyon of course is a blast.... food was good, wouldn't say great...

The Yachtsman Steakhouse is supposed to be really really good, we didn't go, I didn't want to refinance the house.... LOL

I'd love to help you, but White Castle only does the waiter service/tuxedo stuff on Valentines day.

CLAMS !!
One of my all time favorites to eat is the Cape May Cafe, LOVE the steamed clams ! They have a very nice buffet with a nice meat varity. And when you compare the price to other nice off proprty eateries, it's comparable.
And nothing says "I love you" like a
KITCHEN SINK
from the Beaches and Cream !
For a little xtra $$ I like Narcoossees, good menu, good wines, nice atmosphere. They have a nice Surf & Turf for hubby. Or they just have great Turf.
Cept for Victoria & Alberts, you can dress casual ever where at Disney.

So what anniversary will this be for you ?

Somebody, someplace, mentioned that the Trail's End is good - even if you can't tell if the ribs are pork or beef! ;)

We really, really, like Wolfgang Puck's Cafe in Downtown Disney. I get the Pumpkin Ravioli and DH likes anything else on the menu! LOL Their desserts are very good too!

I agree with Born2Fish - the Cape May is very good!! Even if you don't care for clams - there are lots of other things on the buffet!

For romance, I would try the new Italian Restaurant over at the Swan! Here's a link: Il Mulino Trattoria

My hubby says Narcoosees has one of the best steaks he's ever tasted. Plan it right, and you can watch the fireworks from there!

Inside WDW... Cape May at Yacht & Beach Club. Best buffet on Disney property!! If you can get ressies....Le Cellier at the Canada Pavillion at Epcot. Best darned Cheddar Cheese soup, anywhere!!! Al would only be interested in a La Monde du Fin (or whatever the heck that beer is called).

Outside WDW...

Casual dining... The Ale House
Upscale dining... Texas de Brazil

We will celebrate our 9th anniversary during our October trip.

I have planned a dinner at Artist Pointe to celebrate. They have a buffalo steak on the menu that my husband can't wait to try.

I would also suggest that you check out The Boardwalk area if this is your first trip without kids. We enjoy having a flight of beer at Big River. And, the bakery there is a great place to pick up a treat to take back to the RV.

I hope you have a great time.

Happy Celebrating!

We've been to the Cape May, and Kona..and probably will hit them again.
However...this Mulino Trattoria sounds especially interesting. I usually don't find that I like Italian food outside of NY...but given it's roots, sounds like we should give it a try. :)
Many years ago we ate in the Yachtsman Steakhouse, and I remember that to be good...anyone eaten there recently?:confused3

Also..the Narcoosees...I've read that it can be noisey..is that true?

The Big River Grill..haven't tried that, in fact we haven't been over to the Boardwalk area in years.

Thanks for the suggestions. ;)

We ate at The YSH in Oct. 07 it was very good.

Too busy eating to notice any noise at Narcoossee's.

We enjoyed our dinner at Artist Point for our anniversary a few years ago and it is just a boat ride away. I just love Wilderness Lodge. If we didn't have our motorhome that is where we would stay.
We are going to have dinner at the castle this year for our 14th anniversary dinner. I thought that would be neat to eat in the castle.
We are also going to try Yachtsman Steakhouse this year. I hear that is good.
I guess last year we didn't do a special anniversary dinner. :confused3

Have a great time!

Also..the Narcoosees...I've read that it can be noisey..is that true?
Thanks for the suggestions. ;)

We've eat'n at Narcoossees many times over the years and I don't find it to be any more noisey than any place else.

Am I the only one who can't stand Tonga Toast? I tried it, after glowing recommendations....and many of them. I guess a half loaf of bread, stuffed with banana, deep fried and soaked in oil and covered in powdered sugar just isn't my thing. I felt like a grease pit afterwards.:crazy2:

and you wonder why you aren't part of the cool kids society.... blaspheming the tonga toast.

You have to try the California Grill on top of the Contemporary. Plan dinner for the time of Wishes and watch it from your table. Very romantic.

The best Filet Mignon we had last year in any of the Disney Signature restaurants was at Citricos.

I posted this in another thread. I was actually quite surprised. I think we had at least 1 steak in each of the Signatures and felt Citricos was the best, with the nicest atmosphere (no rushing) and good service.

After reading thru your other replies, it doesn't surprise me that no one mentioned Citricos - because I think it's a hidden gem.

I've eaten in Yachtsman, and it's not what it used to be. Neither is California Grill. IMHO, both those restaurants have become too popular and busy.

I wasn't that thrilled with Artiste Pointe, but that's probably because I wasn't feeling that well.

Narcoossees has gotten better after a run of really lousy food.

Keep in mind that if you want a truly nice dinner you should select from the Signatures. The dining plan has ruined most, if not all, of the regular restaurants.
