What restaurant (resort or DTD) would be the best to dine solo? If you've done this before would it be better to made an ADR or taking a chance on a walk-in? This would actually be for Monday night, 12/8 so I'm hoping it won't be too busy.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I ate solo at Whispering Canyon & I had a wonderful experience. I liked the "all you can eat" aspect w/o having to wander around a restaurant. It was also entertaining & I really enjoyed the view of the Wilderness Lodge. I highly recommend it. (BTW, they're known for their anticts, but I was never "picked on" or singled out for being a solo diner. In fact, I felt that they gave my extra special positive attention.) Making a reservation might not be a bad idea. Wherever you may go, I hope you have a great meal!

I have eaten solo at
Victoria and Alberts
California Grill
Flying Fish
Spoodles
Narcoossees
1900 Park fare
Boma
Jiko
Le Cellier
Rose and Crown
Coral Reef
Beaches and Cream
Whispering Canon Cafe
Sci Fi Cafe
Tony's town hall square
Wolfgang Puck cafe
Raglan Road
Spoodles
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Was made to feel as welcome as families at all but Tony's who brought me 2 glasses of drink and made it quite clear I wouldn't see him much at all.

I've eaten solo at Tonys, Liberty Tree Tavern, Coral Reef, and Chefs De France. At each of these restaurants, I was treated better than when I went with my family! The only one I had a reservation for was Chefs De France. The rest were last minute decisions. This was last October, I think. I had to wait at Liberty Tree--for about 45 minutes. They told me that immediately, so I went off and did something else for a while. When I went back, I was seated immediately.

If you're not too fussy about the times you eat, you should be o.k. without reservations. I would imagine you'll have problems getting into CRT and LeCellier.

Have fun! We'll be there starting January 24. Can't wait!

So many people are there for conventions and meetings, that it's not so odd to find lots of solo diners in the World. I've eaten many solo meals, and never been made to feel awkward about it. The CM's are pretty good at reading whether you want to talk or be left alone, and they act accordingly. So go for the restaurants you like! I still recommend ADR's if you are trying to dine at peak times, even during this time of year.

I travel solo all of the time and the only places that I would feel uncomfortable in is a romantic place. I think in WDW, the only place that I would feel uncomfortable in is Vand A. I ate in several disney restaraunts and was always treated with respect. Go and don't think about being solo and know that many people around you are envious that you get to do and eat what you want to do/eat and when you want to do it!

I have had two wonderful solo dinners at Victoria and Alberts without feeling uncomfortable. I will go back next year as well.

Paula, that's great to hear. Someday when I can afford V and A, I will give it a try.

Flying Fish is great for solo dining. They have a "show kitchen" with a bar in front, so you can eat your meal at the bar and see what is going on in the kitchen. The chefs there are always up for chatting a bit while they work and treat diners at the bar very well.

Never had to make a reservation to sit there even when the restaurant was otherwise booked.

I've eaten solo at Chefs de France, Hollywood Brown Derby, Tutto de Italia, and Kona Cafe. I only made a ressie for Kona 'cause I KNEW I wanted to eat there. the others I winged it. Though Tutto made me make a ressie as a walk-up.
