Dining Rotation Schedule..........

If you are talking about the set times vs. the staggered times, we prefer the set times. I am honestly not looking forward to the staggered times on our next cruise. The old way just worked for us & we got all of the pictures that we wanted. We might get them after diner instead of before but that didn't bother us. I am anxious about how the shows are being scheduled now because we are going to book our Palo resies tonight & our time might be off if the shows are changed too. :(

from what I've been told the show times are staying the same, they are just staggering the dinner times.

So that means that if you have the later dining time, you will miss out on getting a seat up front. If you have the earlier time you now have an extra 15 minutes to keep the kids entertained without really doing anything because there isn't enough time to get involved in anything. Oh well. I know one thing that I will be writing about on the comment card at the end of the cruise.

Staggered dining times? Can someone tell me where I can find more info on the staggered dining times?
Thanks a bunch!

If I am correct the early dinner times are 5:45PM, 6:00PM and 6:15PM
and the late dining is I think 8:00PM, 8:15PM & 8:30PM

You can still put in a REQUEST for which one you might like, but it is up to
DCL.

Also you can call 800-511-1333 which is Disney Cruise Line direct and see what update they might give you.

The info that I got from Disney is that they'll start "testing" the staggered dining on the Magic after she comes out of drydock and it will continue through January. But they assume it will stick so for future bookings they are asking which time slot that you want.

The late times are 8:00, 8:15 and 8:30 according to DCL. Since the early show runs from 6:30 to 7:30 it should not interfere with any of the dining times (other than you'll need to be ready for formal night dining before going to the show probably). And with the 5:45, 6:00 and 6:15 dining times you will still be done eating around 7:30pm usually so making the 8:30 show shouldn't be difficult.

They're going to be staggering the dining on the Magic beginning on 10/29.
Here's the update :flower:

Truthfully you don't even realize the staggered times .. It's only a few minutes in the grand scheme of things..

looks like APL is 6pm...

15 minutes can make a big difference - especially with two littles to get ready along with myself! and I would presonally love 6:30....that's an extra half hour!

My TA emailed me back - he called DCL and they can note the request - so I said not to put it on there - I will just hope for the best!

Is there any correlation between booking early and your dining assignment...I am thinking we will have APL...as we have two little ones...

Thanks mc'smommy! This is so not what I thought they ment by staggered dining. I was thinking it was 15 min intervals at any given restaurant. One third of the Triton diners arrive at 8, one third and 8;15 and the final third at 8:30. I thought they were doing this to avoid congestion/serving everyone at once? :confused3

ibouncetoo...that is kind of what I thought as well...

mcmommy thanks for posting!

I'm with you.

I thought the staggered times were within the dining room, and that seemed to make sense. The way they seem to be staggering it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, unless they are trying to control photography traffic in the atrium. It won't relieve stress on the galleys, since each restaurant has their own independent galley.

What it might screw up though, is if you are in a restaurant 1/2 an hour after the first restaurant seating ... and you wanted to order from the first restaurant's menu that night, you might not be able to if the appetizer line or entree line is already closed in that galley when you are ready to place your order.

We cruised on 9/1 the staggered times were as follows:
First seating 5:45, 6:00 and 6:15
Late seating 8:00, 8:15, 8:30

Anyone write their opinion on their comment cards or write to DCL
about their thoughts on the staggered dining and the rotation???

I really like the old way............I thought they started this due to Pirate Night. But still do not know what they are trying to do, some of the other cruise lines started staggered times also and sime have early, late or a personal choice dining...........

Still curious if they are going to keep it?

Thanks for the information and your opinions!!!!!
