Hello all. My free time seems to be more scarace then ever recently, but I have some time now to work on my reviews. Unfortunatly the computer is also now in the dining room, which is more of an office in my house, and I have also misplaced the cord for my camera to upload all the pictures, so those will have to wait, but I can go on with the review, and I'll just add the pictures later.
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall - Breakfast
This was my fourth time dining at Akershus, but only me second time for breakfast. On my past visits I have been able to try breakfast, lunch, and dinner there, and breakfast is by far, the superior meal. As a matter of fact, I would only bother to eat lunch or dinner there again if I was with someone who really wanted to try authentic Norwegian cuisine, or if I desperatly wanted to see Ariel as a human, as this is the only location she appears.
But breakfast at Akershus is a wonderful meal, and I highly recommend it.
My ADR was for 8:50, but I was running a little late that morning. Even so, I was still seated by 9:05, so the wait was minimal. I always try to be on time, but I just couldn't get moving that morning.
The greeter that morning, as it had been the past two times, was Belle, who was in her yellow ball gown. She commented on the blue shirt I was wearing, and said that if she had been in her blue village dress, we would've matched. Later that same day in France, I saw Belle again, this time in her blue village dress, and she said how nice it was to see me again since she had changed, and now we matched.
Also, the photo package is now included with the price of the meal, and I believe it's one package per every four people dining. I could be mistaken, but since I'm always solo, I don't pay much attention to those kinds of things. (But being as I've eaten there twice since the photo has been included, how many more pictures of myself and Belle do I really need?)
I was then seated, and greeted by my server Renathe, who to be honest I can't quite remember. I do have written on my notes "good," and I rate on a scale of excellant, very good, good, fair, or poor, so she must've done a decent job, but was not, apparently, very memorable.
I then helped myself to some food from the cold buffet. I had some pineapple, cheese, and a cinnamon roll. Which thinking back was a quite odd combination. I really like the Jarlsburg cheese they serve here, and I believe it's the same kind of cheese they use in the potato casserole. The pineapple was nice and fresh, and the cinnamon roll was good as well.
At Akershus the hot food is served family style, and the meal consists of eggs, bacon, sausage, and potato casserole.
I'm not a huge fan of eggs, and am pretty picky on how they're cooked, but I've always found the ones at Akershus to be edible. The sausage was all right, and the bacon was good, but the main draw of the breakfast is always the potato casserole.
I was a little worried that it might not be as good as I remembered, but it was just as good, if not yummier. It's shredded and diced potoates, in a very rich cheese sauce, and it is absolutly delicious. I always eat too much of them, and also always get second helpings of the potatoes. But I can't help it they are so good.
The princesses that morning, (and it always seems to be the same rotation at breakfast,) were Jasmine, Aurora, Snow White, and Mulan, (who isn't even really a princess.) All were very pleasant, and a nice couple at the table next to me took my picture for me with each one.
Overall Akershus is one of my favorite breakfasts on property, and I'd rate the food and character interaction over the meal at Cinderella's Royal Table, though it is cool to get to eat in the castle.
