Day #2 Lunch:
We ate at Flame Tree BBQ in the AK. VERY good! We rated it 4.5 out of 5. I had the smoked 1/2 chicken. Chicken was extremely moist and the BBQ sauce was very good. Didn't care for the beans. Corn on the cob was just ok. DH had the smoked pork sandwich and it was also very good. Very tender meats here! The portions were huge!
Day #2 Dinner:
We ate dinner at 'Ohana. I was skeptical to try it b/c of all the terrible reviews we've read (and we are food snobs at home- we love to eat out and eat different and good food!). Here was our decision.....It was hands down the best meal we had while at Disney and even over Palo on our
Disney cruise!!! Yum yum yum. 5 out of 5. The meats were extremely well cooked and tender. I really liked the steak and turkey. The noodles were tasty, as was the broccoli. The appetizers of pork dumplings and wings were very good. Loved the banannas foster style dessert. Every dish we were served was really good. The only complaint I had was that we had such a huge lunch, we could barely eat it all! If you are concerned about 'Ohana b/c of the reviews you read, I'd say give it a try. We were extremely pleased.
Day #3 Breakfast:
We ate at the Crystal Palace buffet in the MK. We rated it 3.5 out of 5. There was nothing spectacular about the food, but there was nothing bad either. Typical buffett breakfast food- eggs, waffles, cereal, fruit, meats. We tried a bit of everything.
Day #3 Lunch:
We ate Comic Ray's Starlight Cafe in the MK. It was a 1 out of 5. I had the 1/2 chicken and rib combo meal. The chicken was very greasy. The ribs were as tough as tarzan's feet. The mashed potatoes were territble. DH ordered the BBQ sandwich and it was nothing compared to Flame Tree in AK. Just wasn't very good. The fries were tasty either. Probably our least favorite place.
Day #3 Dinner:
We ate Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn in the MK. I've never been a fan of the CS meals at MK, but we decided to give it a go. We rated it a 4 out of 5! I had the Taco salad. Loved the fixins' bar. We also ordered the chili cheese fries and OMG I'm still craving them! I'm not usually one to eat that type of thing either but they were SOOOO good. DH got the cheeseburger and said it was just okay. The french fries were tasty. We gave it a high rating for those outstanding chili cheese fries. Yum.....
Day #4 Breakfast:
We ate Captain Cooks at the POLY. I ordered the cheese omelet croissont (as did DH). It was just okay. Nothing to write home about. 2.5 out of 5.
Day #4 Lunch;
We did Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney. We both ordered the original and it was good! DH loved it. I'm not a sandwich person myself, but it was still good. The wait there was ridiculous! There were people lined up forever! That was my largest complaint...it's probably not worth the time we waited for a sandwich! 3.5 out of 5 (DH would probably say 4 out of 5 except the wait time was silly and the side dishes were not spectacular by any means).
Day #4 Snack:
We did Ghiradelli in Downtown Disney. We both ordered the chocolate and peanut butter milkshakes and yuck yuck yuck! Awful! I cannot describe it to you other than to say it wasn't chunky or smooth...it was just like an old candy bar had been put into bad icecream and mixed around. Do you know what a Reece cup tastes like that is old and the peanut butter is dry and like dust? That's what this tasted like. Old. 1 out of 5.
Day #4 Dinner:
We did Grand Floridian Cafe at the GF. I had the popcorn encrusted Mahi Mahi. It was so bad. The fish tasted very frozen. The popcorn did nothing to help the flavor and the cream sauce it was sitting in had not one hint of taste. DH ordered the Lobster Burger. He said the patty tasted frozen, too. I had the fondue as dessert and it wasn't good either. The chocolate was not sweet (but it wasn't dark chocolate either). Just wasn't good. We were disappointed. 2 out of 5.
Day #5 Breakfast:
We ate a quick bite at Captain Cooks in the POLY again before our cruise. This time we ordered a la carte. I had scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes. Potatoes were great! Very well seasoned. DH had eggs and bacon. The bacon was greasy without much meat. 3.5 out of 5.
That's it! We then went off to our Disney Cruise and missed some of the meals we had at Disney! The cruise meals were not as good as the last time we went. Even Palo was just okay. Guess we compared everything to the freshly cooked taste of 'Ohana!
Bon Appetit!
