My husband and I are on the somersize diet. It is a food combination system where you don't mix your fat/proteins with your carbs. There's a little more to it (no sugar or starch (potatoes, bananas, corn, etc)) but that is the basic idea. We both joined the "Biggest Loser" contest at our jobs and were both in 1st place. Since January, I've lost 30lbs. He's also lost 30lbs but he's only been on it for 6 weeks (men's metabolism).

Anyway, since we were both winning our contests, we really didn't want to cheat. And for the most part, we acheived it. When we arrived at check-in at Poly, we were upgraded to Concierge! Well, we knew it would be hard to say "no" to all of the wonderful complimentary food there. But overall, we stuck to it. During our February trip, I was on Somersize as well (in another Biggest Loser contest - I won:banana:) so I didn't cheat at all on that trip (aside from the sugar in Ginger Mojitos at Tambu).

During our February Trip, we went to:

Boma - I ate all of the meat available and made myself a large salad. This buffet is very hard for a somersize dieter because there are a lot of potato, rice or couscous dishes. Since it was easier to eat meat and a salad then make it an all carb meal, I avoided the carbs. The server went out of his way to make me feel comfortable. Since there is only so much salad and meat one can have without getting sick of it, he went to the kitchen and came back with a whole dish of broccoli. I'm guessing he went to Jiko and got it since broccoli wasn't on the buffet. The server also found me a sugarfree cheesecake. It was delicious!! It was very nice of him to go out of his way. He was the most accommodating server of the trip.
Sunshine Seasons - I had the Seared Tuna on Mixed Greens with Sesame Rice Wine dressing. I found this to be quite bland and would not recommend it.
Fulton's Crab House - easy meal. Crab legs, broccoli and salad. No sugarfree dessert available here though. Being from the Midwest, we're not close to either ocean, so our experience with seafood hasn't been the best. These crab legs were awesome! I didn't know crab legs could taste so delicious! I would definitely recommend.
Ohana - I ate all of the meat, salad, broccoli. I stayed away from the noodles, pineapple bread, potstickers and bread pudding. Still a very filling meal. There were no sugarfree desserts available.

During our August/September Trip, we went to:

Ohana - same as the Feb trip, except gone were the maui potatoes. We didn't miss them.
Wolfgang Puck Express - We shared the rotisserie chicken and the rotisserie beef salad. The chicken came with potatoes so we avoided those. We went twice on this trip so the 2nd time we asked for the vegetables instead of the potatoes. This was the best lunch we've had on property in a while. Although I would have loved to have the creme brulee, the pasta or the pizza, I didn't feel deprived since our meal was so delicious. As for the vegetables, I'm not a fan of roasted or grilled vegetables usually, but I really liked how these were made. Mushrooms, zuchini and tomatoes with butter - Mmmm!
Il Mulino - We went here for our anniversary dinner and was greeted with two complimentary glasses of champagne. As for the meal, we were disappointed. We got the ribeye and the saltimbocca. The ribeye was great! One of the best on property. The saltimbocca was too salty. We ordered the spinach and the broccoli rabe for sides. We didn't realize that we got sides with our meal already so we didn't need the extra sides. In the future, we wouldn't get sides. We didn't care for them. Both were EXTREMELY salty. We did cheat here and get the tiramisu (my favorite dessert). I was disappointed with this as well. It was basic and left me unfulfilled.
Concierge - we ate here on Sunday and Monday nights. We had pork sandwiches (like Captain Cook's) and spring rolls and California Rolls and Cucumber Avocado Rolls, Make Your Own Asian Noodle Bowl. As you can tell by the menu, we cheated here. I wasn't that impressed with the sushi night, but you really can't complain when it is free.

All in all, Disney is definitely doable on a protein diet. I think it would be difficult to do a carb only trip. Can't wait for our October trip where we will both be off the diet and be able to enjoy all of the great food at Disney.
