Hi! I'm a active reader of the boards, but do not participate much. However, I've benefited so much from reading others experiences, I decided to do a short dining review from my family's recent trip. Unfortunately we did not take any food pics, but I'll do my best to describe what we ate and how it was.

Who
DH: 39, 1st time to Disney World (or Disney anything)
DD: Turned 3 on our trip, also 1st time to Disney World
Me: 40, haven't been to DW since 2009, but prior to that went nearly every year since 1980 or so

We are from Long Island, NY

When
4/1/16 - 4/8/16

Where
Stayed at Coronado Springs

Restaurants visited
O'hana dinner
Backlot Express lunch
50's dinner
Oasis Canteen breakfast (multiple times)
Akershus lunch
Tusker House lunch
Whispering Canyon dinner
BOG lunch
1900 Park Fare dinner
Hollywood & Vine dinner
BOG breakfast
Pinocchio Village Haus lunch
Crystal Palace dinner
Boma breakfast

plus various snacks

As you can see, we were character meal heavy for our DD. We used the DDP, which was a last minute decision given how many character meals we were doing. Now on to the reviews!

First up is O'hana. We had a 3:30 reservation and ended up bringing along my little cousin who joined us on our trip last minute (family lives in FL). Although we had a ressie for 3 it was no problem to add a 4th. My DD passed out in the car on the way over and continued to sleep in her stroller the entire meal. I thought we'd need to pay for her even though she was asleep based on what I had read here, but the CM's did not charge us, which was very nice.

We got a great table 1 row away from the windows facing the MK with a perfect castle view. I got a lapu lapu (the pineapple drink) which was delicious and very much needed after a toddler meltdown! The food began coming out and we enjoyed everything. DH enjoyed the bread very much and ate nearly the whole thing! We all liked the salad, my only criticism was that the lettuce seemed like a bag mix to me, but the toppings and dressing made up for it. The pot stickers and wings were next, we all loved these, especially with the sauces they provided. Next came the steak and noodles/veggies. Delicious. The steak was very tender and cooked perfectly. The noodles were very good, those were inhaled by DH and my cousin. The veggies were good as well. Then came chicken, we all really liked this. And finally the shrimp, I did not have any of those as I'm not a huge shrimp lover and the steak and chicken were more appealing to me. DH had a few and said they were very good. Lastly was the dessert. I normally can take or leave bread pudding, but this was really delicious. We couldn't even finish it, but we all really enjoyed it!

The CM's who served us were very friendly and attentive, they seemed shocked we did not ask for more of really anything, but it was so much food we just were satisfied with the original portions. The restaurant was not really full even when we left around 4:30, but was starting to get busier.

I would definitely go back to O'hana as I thought it was one of the best meals of the trip. I liked the early time we ate. We left immediately after to meet the rest of our family at MK and had a great night there!

Next up is Backlot Express Lunch.

On 4/2 we went to DHS with the whole family, it was my family plus Uncle, Aunt, Cousin 1, and Cousin 2. We chose Backlot simply because we were in the area, it was pouring rain, and DD was very hungry! Between the group we got the cheeseburgers and the Chicken and Waffle combo meals. We also got 2 of the specialty cupcakes, the Darth Vader (chocolate with PB frosting) one and the BB8 (lemon) one since we were on the DDP.

The burgers were OK, nothing special. The chicken nuggets I thought were pretty good, better than McDonald's anyway (to me)! The waffles I felt were a little too crispy at the edges, I prefer softer waffles. My DD seemed confused about eating nuggets and waffles together, but she went with it because she was hungry :). The cupcakes were both a big hit with the group, we ended up cutting them up into pieces and all trying. I preferred the Darth Vader one slightly only because I love all things chocolate. The BB8 lemon cupcake was really good though too, it had cute little "rocks" that I think were white chocolate.

Overall, it was a decent meal for QS and I did not have super high expectations anyway.

Our next meal was dinner at 50's Prime Time Café. Again, this was the whole group, 7 of us in total. The restaurant was pretty packed when we arrived 15 mins to our ADR at 7:55. The hostess said they were running about 15 mins behind. We all found spots in the lounge area and waited to be called. By this time DD had pretty much had it with waiting and was getting increasingly difficult to entertain. We waited about 20 - 25 mins for our table, which wasn't terrible, but still a long wait for a 3 year old. Once we were seated we quickly decided what to order and our server was prompt in taking our food order. We got onion rings for the table. I ordered a chocolate milkshake and DH got the PB&J milkshake. The onion rings were very good, we all enjoyed those. The sauce they come with, which is a horseradish was also really good. The shakes were very good. I wish I got the PB&J one as it was more unique than the chocolate, but they were both still good. In fact, my Aunt and Uncle decided to order one too. They were huge and we could have shared. My DD ended up drinking a lot of mine and I, in turn, drank a lot of my husband's.

For mains we got a variety of things. My younger cousin was not feeling well and only got chicken noodle soup. My DD also got noodle soup as she decided she wanted pizza right as we sat down and refused mac and cheese or anything else, but perked up at soup, so I went with it. They both said it was good and ate it all. It didn't look like anything special to me though. DH and my Aunt got the fried chicken and both said it was excellent. My Uncle got the veggie lasagna, he also said his was very good. Older cousin got the pot roast, she said it was delicious and better than her dad's (he was not pleased by this, :rolleyes1). I ordered the chicken Caesar salad as I wanted something light. I was not overly impressed with the chicken or bread that came with it, but the salad itself was good.

We skipped dessert since we had shakes. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. We paid OOP for this and my DH and I treated. Overall I thought the total was not too bad for what we got. I'm also used to prices similar to what Disney charges being from NY. My Aunt and Uncle are annual passholders and while they normally do not dine at Disney very often (they have a camper and cook most of their meals there), both said they would return to this restaurant.

The waitress was good and she wasn't over the top with the "fun" as she could see that my one cousin was feeling awful and my DD was cranky, but she did enough to have the experience. The table next to ours did a lot of antics which was fun to watch. They had 2 girls do "I'm a little teapot" which was funny and my DD loved it. We played along and had a good time. Although this was a good meal, I'd probably try something else next time at DHS unless someone I was with really wanted to go.

Moving along to the next day which was Pepper Market (I said Oasis above, but it was actually Pepper Market, but same food) breakfast. We just got breakfast sandwiches for DH and I there, DD did not want anything and ate some food we had brought with us in the room. The breakfast sandwiches were decent. We both got bacon egg and cheese on a croissant roll with hash browns. I had coffee and DH had juice. The coffee was just OK, maybe not as strong as I normally like, but did the job of getting me caffeinated.

For lunch we had a ressie at Akershus at 2:50 for DD to meet the princesses. She was having a VERY hard time today and it honestly put a damper on the day and lunch. When we finally got to the restaurant we only waited a short time to be seated. We first met Belle and took a pic with her. Belle was....weird. She spoke in a weird, nasally voice and it was just weird to me. Prior to having DD I was never big on the face character meets, so I thought this was just normal, but after meeting other princesses, I can still say, Belle was weird. We took our picture and went to our table.

The server came quickly for our drink order and invited us to the appetizer buffet. The selections there was decent, quite a bit of fish, I did not partake as I do not care for cold fish. I got several salad items, nothing that really stood out to me except this apple, pear, craisin salad which I really liked. We also got some meats and cheeses. I thought my DD would want this since she is a cheese fiend, but she wanted no part in it and was still asking for pizza! Thankfully it was on the kids menu here :worship:. DH got several of the fish items from the buffet and said they were really good. For mains, DD got pizza, I got the meatballs, and DH got the seafood gratin type dish. DD loved her pizza, it looked like a standard frozen pizza to me, but she ate it and was finally happy, so I was happy. The meatballs were good. They were not served hot enough and I would have liked more of the 2 sauces, gravy and berry. DH loved his seafood dish and said it was really good. His came out piping hot.

The princesses came around, we had Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White, and Aurora. The interaction was brief, but overall OK. I mean my DD was sort of awestruck and didn't say much so did not give the princesses much to work with. My DD enjoyed meeting the princesses and we got some cute pics. Then there was a parade, my DD was super confused and knew that something was going on, but wasn't sure what to do. Ariel grabbed her hand and took her around with her, which was very sweet. Once DD realized what the parade was she was really into it and enjoyed it very much.

Next was dessert which was a platter of a trio of desserts, a chocolate dessert, an apple cake, and a rice pudding type thing. All were pretty good. I thought the apple cake was a tad dry. The chocolate was very good an we also liked the rice pudding.

Overall, it was just an OK meal. I probably would not do this again unless my DD got really into princesses as she gets older. I think this particular meal is rather pricey for what you get, but understand that we're paying for the princess experience here. My opinion could also be skewed just because it was not enjoyable for me due to DD's behavior before and in the beginning of the meal.

thanks so much for some great reviews...I am anxious for Ohana again...we did it last May and enjoyed it...thanks again

Our next day was an AK day. At this point I had rearranged our schedule, but was able to make new reservations for places I had planned on other days. We had done Epcot on Sunday, but we just didn't enjoy it. I was really disappointed because I've always really loved that park and was looking forward to trying some of the F&G booths. DD just wasn't into it and was asking to "see the animals" since we got there (thanks to Disney Jr. commercials, she ran to the window in the morning at the hotel we stayed at on the drive down and flung open the curtains to ask "where are the animals" only to be sorely disappointed by a parking lot and strip mall view) so we changed the original plan to do Epcot again Monday and went to AK.

We had lunch at Tusker House this day. We were absolutely starving because we chose not to eat breakfast. It was an EMH day at AK and we got there quite early since I was unable to get a FP+ for the Safari the night before. We had to wait a short while for our table to be ready and then were led in and seated. Our server came out quickly and we had just missed the round of characters for our section so had time to get our food and eat. I went up to get DD's plate, I thought they had good selections for kids, and a lot of the "adult" food they had she would eat too. She had some of the carved beef, rice, mac and cheese, corn, and a chicken leg. She enjoyed her food and ate a good portion. I then went back up to get my plate, I tried a number of things and the stand outs to me were the beef and the pork with the mustard sauce. I also liked the jalapeno corn bread and vegetable samosa with mango chutney they had. DH went up and found the rice with pigeon peas and got a huge plate of that. He is Dominican and loves rice dishes. He tried other things, but ate a LOT of rice with pigeon peas. Later he told me this was his favorite restaurant we went to, so I guess it was really good. As we were eating I spied a salad on the woman's plate sitting next to us that I thought was arugula with oranges so I went up to get it. However, it was arugula and beets, blah, I hate beets. I skipped that and got the watermelon feta salad which was good, but I think it had something spicy in it as every other bite there was some heat. I like spicy, so it didn't bother me, but was unexpected, I haven't had that salad with something spicy in it.

We had time to get dessert before the characters came. DH just got macaroons, but he's not a huge sweet eater, so no surprise. He liked them. I chose a few things for me and DD to share. They had caramel brownies, I took 2 of those and good thing because my DD ate them both, I got one bite! So I went back up for more they were so good. We also tried a carrot cake, a cookie, and a flourless chocolate cake. The brownie was the best.

While we were eating dessert the characters came. Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy were there that day. I thought Minnie would be there and DD was disappointed she was not, but was happy with the other characters. They each had cute interaction with her, signed her autograph book, and we took some pics. Then they did a parade. Now that DD knew that was a "thing" she was all for it and charged to join in. After that, she finished her cookie and drink and we paid and left.

Overall we enjoyed this meal. The options here are more unique and well prepared. DH really liked it, and as I said above, said it was his favorite. Previously I'd only done breakfast here so I was happy to have tried lunch. We'd definitely return.

The same night we did Tusker House, I made a reservation at Whispering Canyon Café. This was a last minute add and not in my original plans. I had wanted to try Bongos in Disney Springs on our AK day, but we just didn't feel like going there. I have never been to the Wilderness Lodge before, but have always wanted to, and thought this place looked pretty good. It was easy to get a ressie here for the same night.

We arrived early and hung out in the lobby and looked around. I checked in 15 mins before our ressie. Now I originally had our reservation at 6:45, but DH said to move it back to 8PM which I did when we got home from AK around 4ish. This was a mistake. We were starving again now and we ended up waiting almost 20 mins to be seated. DD played Lincoln logs and we had to stand to watch her since there were only 2 seats there and they were occupied. I was slightly annoyed by this because I was so tired, but was my fault for letting her see the Lincoln logs! When our table was ready the woman who seated us told us about the "fun" and the little disc to flip to green if you want to participate or red if you don't. We kept it on green because we didn't want to be boring. Our server took a little longer to get to us because he was really having fun with the table next to ours and a 12 year old boy. This boy was in jail already, then the server called out to the restaurant for a "date" for the kid. It was really funny and the family were just cracking up laughing. When the server was done embarrassing this kid, he came to take our orders. He told us what we can order using the DDP, noting the unlimited milkshakes. We decided not to get that and just got lemonade and DD got juice.

Once we got the drinks we were ready to order. DH got ribs, DD got mac and cheese, I got the steak. We got some cornbread and butter, both were very good. While we waited for our food we got to watch all the antics going on around us. Our DD got really into the "ketchup" thing and was yelling KETCHUP every time another table did. We also did a round of "Happy and You Know It" which DD thought was great. She had also seen them do the pony races around the dining room while we were waiting and really wanted to do that, but they never did it again, she was disappointed, but we did get to do a round of "Hokey Pokey" to make up for it.

Finally our food arrived, DD's mac and cheese came with fries. She dug right in and said it was really good. The steak came with asparagus and blue cheese butter. I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out perfect. It was very flavorful and the blue cheese butter was a nice touch with it. The asparagus were very good, cooked crisp-tender just how I like. DH's ribs were fall off the bone tender. I tried a bite and they were very tasty. I think his ribs came with mashed potatoes and corn.

During our meal, the table next to us got all the ketchup. DD noticed and asked for ketchup. They gave her one bottle. Our server noticed and scolded DD. She then asked if we could yell "ketchup". Of course we can! He got everyone to listen while she yelled for ketchup, and we got all the ketchup. DD was delighted with this. Soon after another table needed the ketchup so we all brought some over to their table.

Next up was dessert. We only got one dessert here to share because we were so full. We chose the apple pie dessert and DD got ice cream. It was very good and we ate it all. The crust wasn't really a pie crust though, more like a cake, sort of a graham cracker to me. I would have liked a chocolate thing :-) but didn't want to get too much and feel sick. Ah well, next time.

We enjoyed this meal. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come back if it was just for the food, but I can say with kids, they would really get a kick out of the antics here. And if we ever stayed in WL we'd come eat here for sure. DD still yells ketchup. In fact, at the grocery store last night I bought some and she yelled KETCHUP in the aisle. People just looked at me and I tried not to crack up so as to encourage her to yell more!

thanks so much for some great reviews...I am anxious for Ohana again...we did it last May and enjoyed it...thanks again
Thank you for reading! I really liked O'hana and will definitely go back. I was slightly nervous reading reviews that it wasn't consistent, but we had no issues and thought the whole experience was great.

Enjoying your report very much, even minus the pics!
Thank you! I had indented to take food pictures originally, but DH thought I was crazy :P so I didn't take any, just pics of DD with the characters.

Next up is a Be Our Guest lunch. I made this reservation either the night before or 2 nights before when I realized we had a lot of QS entitlements left. I had read on the DIS that it pays to keep checking for cancelations and that proved to be true as I got us a reservation for 2:20PM. Not prime time, but a good time for lunch for us.

Despite my plans we did not make rope drop for MK, but at this point I was just happy my DD was behaving. We rode Small World like 4 times  because DD loved this ride. Soon it was time to go to BOG. We made our way up to the castle and checked in. I had also read on the DIS to pre-order. That was an excellent piece of advice and I'm glad we did. My DH again thought I was insane for asking him what he wanted to eat for lunch the next day and I tried to explain, but he just doesn't "get" it. If we had not pre-ordered we'd have been waiting on quite a long line, so I'm very glad that we did! We were able to walk right up, confirm our order, confirm we were using the dining plan and then were off to find our seat. We sat in the ballroom because my DD saw snow out the window and thought that was super cool. We sat near the windows in the back. I was a little confused how they'd find us, then I remembered they use the magic band! Duh!!

We ordered the following: DH, roast pork, Me, turkey sandwich, DD, kids pasta. We also ordered 3 desserts, but I took one off when we paid. The instructions on the online ordering said if you were on DDP to be sure to order a dessert for each member of the party. However, when we got to the order confirm/paying part the CM told me that kids meals don't come with a dessert. I had a feeling that was the case, but figured I'd order it anyway. I had originally chosen the orange éclair, the strawberry lemon cupcake, and the master's cupcake. When asked which to take off I said the master's cupcake. The CM seemed unhappy that I wanted to remove that one, but it just didn't appeal to me and I really wanted the orange éclair. I love orange and chocolate combos! However, when the food came out we got the strawberry cupcake and the master's cupcake. I didn't notice at first because I was trying to keep DD from running off, but when I did I was disappointed and almost flagged down a CM to change it, but just dealt with it.

On to the food - DH liked his pork, I did not try it, but he said it was really good. DD loved her pasta, it came with each component separately so she could make it her way. She opted to eat the pasta plain and eat the cheese on its own because she is 3. She also got fries I think with hers and got "dip" or KETCHUP as she now says. My turkey sandwich was ok. The turkey was cut very thick and I prefer thin sliced. It had a mayo based spread on it, some arugula, and tomatoes. The topping distribution was uneven across the 2 halves and the 1st half was not as good as the 2nd half which had all the toppings. My sandwich also came with fries. I didn't love the fries, but they were cooked well. I think it was just the style of the fries.

DD was done first and was eyeing that master's cupcake. She got into that while I was still eating. I managed to try some of the master's cupcake. I'm sorry to say, but I was very underwhelmed. The cake itself was good, moist, like a cupcake should be, but the gray stuff tasted like whipped cream to me and that's it. I thought I saw that it is made with whipped cream and Oreos. If it is, I didn't get the Oreo taste, it just tasted like plain and not very sweet whipped cream. DD liked it, so I was happy about that. DH had the strawberry lemon cupcake and shared some with me. This I thought was much better. I thought the BB8 cupcake was superior though at DHS!

We then went and looked at the other 2 rooms in the restaurant. The West Wing is quite cool, we looked at the rose and tried to get a pic with DD, but people weren't waiting "turns" to get a pic so I did my best and we moved on. Then we went into what I'm calling the music box room, not sure if that is right, but the dancing Belle and Beast makes me think of a music box. That room was very pretty, my DD liked the dancing statue.

Overall we gave BOG a thumbs up. It was a good break from the park and slightly better than getting your own food to the table like other QS. The setting is cool and I didn't find it that crazy in there as I've read on other reports. My DD really liked it and thought we were in the Beast's castle which was really cute. We had a breakfast here later in the trip that I had planned for months thinking I scored a jackpot. I was surprised that I came across a lunch opening on such short notice, but glad that I did.

Great reviews! I love detailed reports! I write this way to try and give people lots of info., so I appreciate your style! Tusker House is a must do every trip for us, and we usually do brft., (DD loves the special juice they serve!), but once at a late brft they were changing over to lunch and DH enjoyed trying some of that food. We have done WCC once, and liked the food and the antics - I love your DD's continuation of the KETCHUP! We also think the food at BOG lunch is just okay, but like the setting and sit down break from the park for CS credit. Btw, before magic bands they used to hand you a rose with a "tracker"(like a rose shaped beeper) while you wandered to find where you wanted to sit, and then would come bring your meal to that table. DD was disappointed that we didn't get the rose because the magic band trials had started and we had one of those. Looking forward to reading the rest of your reviews!

That is so so funny. We love the WCC because of the antics. I also loved their Quinoa cakes. We try to eat there every time - especially when you have Paul as a waiter. After the second time he got to know us and really harassed our son - it was so much fun. Asking for Ketchup will never be the same again.

Thanks for the reviews.

Thank you! I realize it is not as exciting as one with pics, but I am trying to be descriptive since I am lacking the food porn pictures.
I spotted the roses when we checked in and recalled reading about them and assumed we would get one once we went inside and when we didn't it didn't dawn on me that they can use our bands!

Thank you! Is Paul the British gentleman? I wish I could remember our server's name. He was British and very funny. I think that tweens/teens are a great age for targets of the servers there and we'll take our DD there just around the age where she'll get embarrassed, if that age ever comes for her!

Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for reading!

The night of our BOG lunch we had a ressie for 1900 Park Fare. This was another of my picks so I could check out the resort! The GF was really beautiful. It smelled so good. I'd never take DD there, at least not until she is much older and calms down. It reminded me of hotels I stay at when I travel for work, not really like I was at Disney, which is not really a bad thing, just different. We arrived early again because my DH doesn't listen and thought I said our ressie was at 6:30 and it wasn't until 7:30 :rolleyes2. We spent time in the gift shop then pried books out of DD's hands and went to the lobby. We sat by the little kids TV for a bit then moved to a couch in the main part of the lobby and listened to the band. It was really relaxing apart from corralling our DD. We went to check in and waited probably about 20 mins or so to be called. We took a cute family picture by the castle mural first.

Once we got in and were seated our server came right away and took our drink orders. Again, we had just missed the characters so had time to get our food and eat. They had pizza for DD here. She again wanted pizza and talked about it all day, and insisted she wanted 10 pieces of pizza. She ended up eating 5. This kid really likes pizza! I tried some and it was fairly decent pizza for not being NY pizza 8-). She liked it and it settled her down which was what was important to me. DH got fish again here and also rice and pork. He didn't eat much here. I think he was still full from lunch? I'm not sure why. I got the herb crusted strip loin and roast pork, Caesar salad, and Mongolian beef and rice, plus a roll with butter. The strip loin was really good here and I also really liked the Mongolian beef.

While we were eating the characters started coming. First was Prince Charming, I think most reviews I've read all say he was kind of boring, and that was the case with our experience as well. My DD was really shy with him and he was sweet with her, but it was lackluster overall. Then came Cindy, her visit was really quick. Just hi, hello, take a pic, bye bye. While we were waiting for the others, the stepmother was a few tables down. The kids at the table had Star Wars handcuffs. She called Drizella over and showed her the handcuffs. Drizella then ran over to Anastasia and handcuffed themselves together. Then they got the idea to go handcuff Prince Charming. It was pretty funny. Prince Charming didn't really play it up, he just lifted his hands and shrugged. Anyway the stepmother came over next and I told her how DD was not behaving and she recommended some chores to straighten her out. DD looked concerned, DH and I enjoyed it! Then came Anastasia who advised DD to marry for money, I agreed. And then Drizella, I got DD to make a scrunched up face for their pic which I thought came out cute.

For dessert they had a decent variety. I spotted brownies, but sadly they were not as good as TH. We also tried cannolis, a fruit tart, and mini cheesecakes. I thought the cannolis were the best dessert. DD also got gummy bears which she used to have a gummy bear parade rather than eating.

Overall I liked the food here, but I don't think it is a place I'd put high on the priority list to return to. I think the stepmother and sisters would be more fun with older kids.

Loving your reviews! We are going to be eating at a few of the same places and love to see different perspectives!

We are heading down from NYC! I bet you were glad to get out of the weather last week!

Thanks for reading!

No, Paul is not British. He is younger man and from PA. That was and is the ages of our kids and they truly love WCC. Looking forward to more of your reviews. Thanks

again..what a great review person...thanks for taking the time to write this all out..

Great reviews!!!
when we got to the order confirm/paying part the CM told me that kids meals don't come with a dessert.
Just an FYI QS credits can be used for any QS meal now at WDW and she could have gotten a cupcake free if she was willing to eat an adult entree. I am fairly sure this is allowed at BOG because this fall at CHH and Cosmic Rays we did this.
