Dining Reviews for our Feb 1 to 6 trip. This was a short last-minute trip that we planned 3 weeks ago, we arrived late on arrival day and left early on departure day. By the way, we had no problems using DDE card at AsMo food court. We were at AsMo Feb 1 to 3, and WL from Feb 3 to 6.
Feb 2nd:
Breakfast at AsMo food court -- DS had the mickey waffles with bacon, I had some cereal and a banana. The waffles and bacon would've been good if they were fresh, but they tasted about 30 minutes old. Grade: C
Lunch - Commissary at MGM -- We didn't like the food here the last time we went but it was convenient and I was getting hungry and tired so I thought we'd give it another try. I had a burger and fries. DS had kids meal chicken nuggets. The kids meal was fine, standard fare for WDW. The fries were fine, but the burger just tasted too processed, like a microwaved burger from a frozen meal. Grade: Adult Meal: C-, Child's Meal: B+
Dinner -- AsMo food court -- I had chicken quesadillas, and DS had a chicken nuggets kids meal again. Both were excellent. We brought them back to the room and they were still hot. Grade: B+
Feb 3rd:
Breakfast at AsMo food court -- We learned our lesson this time, cereal and banans for both of us.
Lunch - Crystal Palace -- Food was good as usual. Loved the mango flan, hadn't had that before. Grade: B+
Snack - Roaring Forks -- DS had some pizza, it was standard, but pretty tasty. Grade: B
Dessert - Main Street Bakery -- we got a chocolate cake slice and an apple tart to go. Both were very good. Grade: A
Dinner - DH arrived this evening, and we were all pretty tired. Room service at Wilderness Lodge. I had a cheeseburger, DS had mac and cheese (which he didn't really eat probably because he had that pizza earlier. DH had a ham sandwich and the cheese plate. Cheeseburger was very good, mac and cheese was standard, ham sandwich was standard, and the cheese plate had some cheeses that we weren't really sure about. Grade: B
Feb 4th:
Breakfast -- in room
Lunch -- Biergarten -- This is one of our favorites. Food was good as always. Rice is gone from the menu (DS' favorite used to be the rice with meatballs). Service was excellent. Grade: A
Dinner -- Concourse Steakhouse -- DS insisted on going to Neverland this evening (he had chicken nuggets there LOL). So DH and I went to the Concourse, we each had the NY Strip, he had the lobster bisque soup and we shared the onion rings appetizer. Dessert was creme brulee for me, and key lime tart for DH. Food was great, service was so-so (very slow and not very attentive). Grade: A (food), C (service)
Feb 5th:
Breafast -- cereal from Roaring Forks
Lunch - Crystal Palace again -- Everything was booked this day so we couldn't change our reservation. Food was okay, but characters were moving slow this day. We were seated around 1145, were done eating around 1230, and we didn't see any characters until about 1245. Grade: B+
Snack -- hotdog for DS from Roaring Forks. If we were staying at WL longer, the lack of food choices would probably have driven me nuts.
Dinner - Ohana's (my favorite!) -- We had a 745 reservation, I didn't even think about the fireworks when I made this ressie or when we checked in. We got some pixie dust and were seated at 755 at a window table with a direct view of the castle! Awesome view of the castle changing colros! Wonton appetizer was okay, I don't eat shrimp but DH did not like the shrimp appetizer. Salad was okay. The pork and beef were excellent, DH and I really liked those (had to ask for our beef more done though, we don't like steak bloody). DS liked the beef and turkey. DH said the sausage was okay but was more like breakfast sausage. The bread pudding dessert was excellent. Service was very very slow, it took 20 minutes to get a drink refill. The music was way too loud (the same 2 hawaiian songs were being played over and over). Watching the fireworks from our table was great, although there was a family that parked themselves right next to us, and they were quite loud during the fireworks. Grade: Food: B+, Service: D
