We just got back to the real world early this morning. I wanted to post my reviews of the places we ate. We had the dining plan, and enjoyed using it.

12/17

Arrival day. We had a 4:20 ADR for Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic dining package. At first, I was concerned about eating so early, but after traveling all night, it was nice to sit down early and relax. At home, we are not big buffet eaters, but we found it nice during the vacation to be able to go in and just get food for the kids and eat. We will definitely do more on our next trip. The decor was nothing to write home about, but we found the food to be very good. My dh particularly loved the mashed potatoes. The bread was very fresh and good. I had the peel and eat shrimp, mashed potatoes, pasta w/broccoli, chicken and scallops in an alfredo sauce, creamed corn spoon bread, and chicken. For dessert I had chocolate mousse, pumpkin pie and marscapone cheesecake. I found all of it to taste very good. I would rate it above the chain buffets that are where we live. I had no problem paying oop for our 5 year old.

12/18
Chef Mickey's-I had read many mixed reviews but booked the character breakfast here for my boys. I liked the mix of characters and that they could see the monorail go by while we ate (my middle ds loves trains). My dh loved the cheesy hashbrowns w/bacon. He said he could make a meal out that alone. I didn't find the food to be bad, just not very good. There was a large selection of food and plenty of opportunities for character interaction. My kids enjoyed the breakfast pizza. We will go back for the experience because we really had fun, but I would rate the food only mediocre. Also, no problems paying oop for my 5 yo.

Peco's Bills- We I put in my order, I ordered the kid's meal for my son. The cashier said that because I was on the dining plan, I should order the regular cheeseburger if I wanted. So, I ordered the cheeseburger, fries, coke and pb mousse brownie for dh, the double bacon cheeseburger, fries, coke, brownie and extra bun for me and 2 little ones (I put the extra pattie on the bun and split it between the 2 youngest ones), and the cheeseburger, fries, coke, and brownie for 5 yo ds. The boys shared a drink and fries. I offered to pay for the extra bun, but she didn't charge me for it. The food was very good. It was definitely above your regular fastfood burger. We have local restaurant that is very similiar, topping bar and all (only the bar at our local one is even better). I would eat here again.

Yachtsman's Steakhouse- It was a long day at the park, and my kids were cranky (I apologize to anyone we may have disturbed) so that may have affected my views on this restuarant. My dh had the tomato and buffalo mozzarella ap and I had the seared maine diver scallops. My dh did not care for his but I really liked mine. Even the salad that came with the scallops was good. For entrees and had the surf and turf and my dh had the filet mignon. Both steaks were very tender, but didn't really have a flavor other than the sauce that was on it. The potatoes were good and the lobster was pretty good. It wasn't that it was bad, it just wasn't great. It was above Outback, but below Ruth's Chris. For dessert I had the creme brulee, it was okay. Dh had the Jack Daniel's mousse cake. It was really good. My oldest ate w/ me and we split the kid's oak grilled chicken breast between the other two and paid for it oop. Not something we feel the need to do again.

12/19
Flametree BBq- We had 2 orders of the 1/2 slab of st. louis ribs and one order of the smoked half chicken, 3 cokes, one chocolate cake, one key lime pie and one frozen lemonade. I paid oop for a side order of fries (dh is not a fan of corn or beans that come w/the meals). It was so much food. I probably could have shared the chicken w/ all 3 boys no problem. The ribs were really good. The chicken was moist and had an interesting rub on it. Kind of sweet, but very good. This cs meal was better than some ts meals we had. The boys loved the frozen lemonade and the cake and pie were also very good. We will definitely eat here again.

Yakitori house- This was the only cs that made sure I ordered the kids meal (which was fine w/me). The only problem I had was that there was only one meal choice for the kids. I could have paid oop for another adult meal for them to share, but it was 7pm and my brain was shot, so I just said yes to the kids meal on the dining plan. We both had the tempura shrimp w/ udon noodles and the kids split the kids meal that consisted of terriyaki chicken, rice and steamed veggies. The kids ate it up and ate some of our udon noodles. We all shared the ginger cake, which was pretty good too. The food wasn't bad, but we can get better Japanese food for about the same price at our local restaurant.

12/20

Pepper Market- I got one breakfast skillet and orange juice for dh and I to share. It was huge and more than enough food for the two of us. It had scrambled eggs w/cheese sauce, bacon, sausage, and hash browns covered in cheese. The food was really good. If we stay at CSR again, I would eat there again.

San Angel- It was a bad idea to have a ts meal in the middle of the day. The service was really good but slow. Dh and I shared a meal and the boys shared an adult meal. We had the sope and creviche for apps. They were okay. Dh and I shared the chicken nachos. They were good, but not $15 worth of good. The boys shared the plate w/ the taco, chicken enchilada and quesidilla. The ate some of it. It wasn't bad. I wish we had just eaten at the mexican cs place.

Crystal Palace- We ate here before MVMCP. They had a large selection of food and it was all pretty good. The prime rib was good, as were the mussells, and the cinnamon and lemon infused rice. I also liked the cream corn spoon bread. The desserts were also good. The character interaction was great and the boys enjoyed the parade through the restaraunt. For a character dinner, it was pretty relaxing. We will do this one again.

12/21

Electric Umbrella- dh and I shared the omelate plate w/ bacon. The boys shared the frech toast sticks. It was okay. I think McDonald's has better breakfasts and it wouldn't have cost me almost $17. I paid oop for all of it.

CS at United Kingdom- we all shared 3 fish and chips w/coke and shortbread cookies. It was pretty good, better than captain D's. We all enjoyed it.

Cinderella's Royal Table- this restaurant is so beautiful. We so enjoyed eating here. We used the dining plan for the 2 adult meals and paid oop for the kids. First of all the pretzel bread was soooo good. For apps, we ordered the crabmeat springroll, the shrimp cocktail and the boys shared the kids cheese and fruit. They were all really good. Dh and I both had the filet of beef. It was better than the Yachtsman. The boys shared the pretzel hotdogs. For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake and the crown sundae. Dh and I shared the cake and the boys shared the sundae. We paid oop for the cheese/fruit app and the hotdogs. We would like to do this one again. The food and atmosphere was wonderful.

All in all everything was pretty good. For the most part you are paying for the Disney atmosphere and not so much for the food. The buffets are better than your average buffets and great for families w/ small kids who may not want to wait for their food. We enjoyed the character meals. The dining plan was great. We had no problems w/ paying oop for the 5 yo or ordering all adult meals at cs places (except the Japanese cs).
