Our family consists of DH, DD6, and myself.

A little background info: We like simple homestyle food. We don't eat out much, it just seems too expensive to us. DH & DD will eat almost anything, but I'm finicky. Even though DD is smaller than most of her classmates, she eats very well (many parents are amazed at how much, and what, she eats). We purchased 26 Q&C vouchers. This was our first trip to wdw, and we planned on it being our "one & only".

I will post all of the reviews on this thread. (Eventually, if I can stop reading other posts long enough to post myself :D )

Day 1 Sat. 12/11

Dinner at Everything Pop
We used 2 vouchers

2 Mom's Specials: 2 pieces of buttermilk fried chicken, mashed potatoes,
gravy, green beans
2 Chocolate Nesquick
Tie Dye Cheesecake
Chocolate Cake

DH ate one meal. DD had a chicken leg and 1/2 the potatoes. I had a chicken breast and 1/2 the potatoes. I don't like green beans, and DD thought they were tough, so we didn't eat them. The food was cold, but it may have been because I took it back to our room & I didn't know that there were carry-out covers available. The meal tasted good though, we liked the coating on the chicken. The 3 of us shared the desserts. The cake was very good, the cheesecake didn't seem to have any "crust" at all and was too rich.

voucher savings $4.02 x 2= $8.04

Day 2 Sun. 12/12

Breakfast: Everything Pop
DH had the Adult Breakfast Platter: scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuit, sausage, bacon.
DD & I shared the chocolate chip pancakes.

Both meals were what you would expect. We decided 2 things that morning - we already knew that we prefer breakfast food at non-breakfast times, so trying to eat a traditional breakfast was not going to work for us, and we prefered to eat in our room.

_________________________________________________________

Tea: My Disney Girl Perfectly Princess Tea Party at the Grand Floridian Garden View Lounge.

This was our big splurge. DD's favorite is Aurora, and we thought this was our only chance to go to wdw.

Adult plate: Tea, 2 egg salad sandwich wedges, 2 salmon salad sandwich wedges, 2 chicken almond sandwich wedges, blue cheese tart, 3 smoked cheddar wedges, sage cheese wedge, 3 flat breads, grapes, berries, cake.

Child plate: Apple juice, 2 ham & cheese sandwich wedges, 3 heart shaped pb&j sandwiches, grapes, cake.

When I booked the tea, I knew that I wasn't going to like most of the food, and I didn't. I did taste everything though. DD ended up eating one of each of my sandwiches, and sweetly gave me 2 of her pb&j. She also ate my berries. DH ate my flat bread, and all but 1 of my cheese. Neither DH nor DD liked the blue cheese tart. I thought that I would at least like the cake, but I didn't care for the strawberry filling, so DH ate 1/2 of it, and 3/4 of DD's also because she was too full after eating her food & part of mine. DH ate all of the extra food because there was no way he was going to let it go to waste after we paid so much for it. It simply wasn't the type of food we prefer, but it was a wonderful time for DD.

Lunch: Everything Pop

DD has a "thing" about missing meals, it really bothers her, so even though she was full when we left the tea, she really wanted lunch. I hadn't eaten much, so I ordered also.

2 Chicken nugget kid's meals with fries and goldfish crackers.

Again, typical counter food. I never figured out why it comes with fries and crackers. Of course, DD really wasn't hungry, so I ate about 1/2 of nuggets & fries, and saved both of the cracker packs for her to snack on later.

Dinner: Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe
We used 2 vouchers

2 Chicken Strips & Fries
2 Chocolate Nesquick
2 Sugar Free Brownies

We made a mistake with this meal. We were at MVMCP, and staked out a good spot for Wishes, so I went down to get carry-out. The items I had picked out from the menu at Deb's site were no longer on the menu, but I was tired, hungry, and didn't think this through. I should have just ordered something without using the vouchers. DH ate one meal, DD & I evenly shared the other. The food was typical. We saved our brownies for snacks later.

voucher savings: 29 cents x 2= 58 cents

Day 3 Mon. 12/13

We slept in after MVCP the night before, and were resort hopping today, so we decided to skip breakfast and get something later at another resort.

Snack: Mara at AKL

Tandori Chicken Pizza
Breadsticks

DH had 2 pieces of pizza & 2 breadsticks. DD & I each had a piece of pizza & a breadstick. We really enjoyed the food here.

___________________________________________________

Lunch: Beaches & Cream

We used 2 vouchers

Roast Beef Sandwich with fruit
Double Cheeseburger with Bacon and Grilled Onions added, with Onion Rings
Lime Rickey
Chocolate Coke
Mud Slide with chocolate ice cream
Frozen Sunshine

DH had 1/2 of each sandwich. DD & I each had a 1/4 of each sandwich. The 3 of us evenly split the fruit and onion rings, and shared the drinks. We only ordered 1 sundae because there was no way I was going to attempt to eat one after all of that food. DH ate the majority of the sundae, DD & I each had a small bowl of it. We ordered the Frozen Sunshine to go.

We absolutely loved all of the food here! For those of you wondering, DD did eat all of that food. We had never heard of a Lime Rickey, but since I had read that many of you order it, we did also and it was very good. I really enjoyed the Frozen Sunshine.

total voucher savings: $24.65

Dinner: Pepper Market at Coranado Springs

We used 2 vouchers

Prime Rib Special with mashed potatoes & gravy and seasoned rice
Bourbon Chicken with rice and veggies
side Nachos
bowl of grapes
Strawberry Smoothie
Sprite
2 Cakes (I can't remember what they were)

We all shared, and it was way too much food. Everything tasted very good, and the steak was very tender. We took the cake back to our room to eat, and saved the grapes for snacking the following day. I didn't order a smoothie because I wrongly assumed it was some kind of fruit/yogurt drink, but it wasn't - it was like a slush, but way better than an Icee.

We didn't know it at the time, but 2 mistakes were made by the CMs. The first was that the man who seated us told us that we could have a side in addition to ANY entree. That didn't sound right to me, so I had DH go back and ask him again, and he verified the info. 2nd, when DH ordered the side Nachos, the CM said he didn't have to stamp the card because it was just a side & we wouldn't be charged anyway. If he had stamped the card like he should have, it would have saved us some embarrassment the following evening.

We didn't receive a receipt, but we tried to write down prices, so the amount may be slightly off, but we estimate the total voucher savings to have been $41.17 ! The price of DH's steak was more than the cost of the 2 vouchers.

Am I missing something? What was the embarrassment the following evening? I am really enjoying the commentary on the vouchers, as I will have 10 to work with in February. Keep the story going!

The first was that the man who seated us told us that we could have a side in addition to ANY entree.
**************

We've always been told that. We always get the side tossed salad, and they always stamp our cards. What was the mistake?

Great reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

The mistake's coming. My server was down last night, but I wrote up some more on msworks, so I can copy them over now.

Day 4 Tues. 12/14

Breakfast: Cinderella’s Royal Table
We used 3 breakfast vouchers

Child Plate: 2 French Toast Sticks & Syrup, 2 slices of Bacon, Scrambled Eggs (DD also received a cupcake for her birthday)
Adult Plate: Stuffed French Toast, 3 slices of Bacon, 2 Sausage links, Cheesy Potatoes
There was also a fruit bowl and pastry basket to share. I can’t remember if we had milk or orange juice. It was all you can eat, but DD and I didn’t even finish our plates. DH asked for some more potatoes, and was given 2 very large scoops of them. He felt bad about not finishing them, but he never expected to be given that much. It all tasted good, but it was just too much too early. I especially liked the stuffed French toast, the potatoes were very good also. The bacon was very crispy, which is how we like it. The sausage was not what we expected, it was very fat. I’ve never seen sausage like that before, and I live in “Pork Country” and farmer friends have given us fresh sausage. I couldn’t eat it that early, but DH said it was fine.

Total voucher savings: $20.51

____________________________________________________________

Lunch: We just weren’t hungry after all of the food at CRT.
___________________________________________________________

Snack: Aloha Isle, MK

Pineapple Dole Whip Cup

After reading about this all year on the boards, I couldn’t wait to try this, and had to have it even though it was cold this day. I love pineapple sherbet. I didn’t like the Dole Whip though. I was very disappointed. DD ate some of it. DH tasted it, but doesn’t care much for pineapple.

_____________________________________________________________

Dinner: Pepper Market, Coronado Springs

We used 2 vouchers

2 Prime Rib Specials, one with seasoned rice and mashed potatoes, the other with mushrooms and French fries
Bowl of Strawberries
Bowl of Melon
Strawberry Smoothie
Pina Colada Smoothie
Tiramisu
Chocolate Chip Muffin

DD ate from both meals. Even with her helping, I couldn’t finish the steak, so DH finished it also. The steak was very tender again. We took both fruit bowls and the muffin back to the room to snack on the next day, and ate the tiramisu when we got back to the room. The muffin was really good, with large chocolate chips. We got one later in the week at Pop, and it wasn’t the same. We liked the Strawberry Smoothie better than the Pina Colada one, but it was good.

When I went to pay with the vouchers, we discovered the errors made the previous night. You are not allowed to get another side if you order any of the grill specials, only with other meals. When I told her that we had the night before, she took off, stopping to talk loudly to other CMs, and pointing at us. I would rather have just paid for the fruit bowls instead of having a fuss made. If the CM the night before had stamped the Prime Rib card with the side of Nachos, we could have taken care of the mistake the night before. She did end up giving us the fruit for free, but chastised us rather loudly and said that we could never get away with it again. I wasn’t trying to get away with anything, I was just ordering the way I had been told to the night before. It was very embarrassing.

Again, we didn’t get a receipt, but we think the total voucher savings was $52.61 but should have been $46.78 because we shouldn’t have had the fruit.

This was an excellent meal, but way too much food, even without the fruit. It was the best use for the vouchers, but overall, DD and I enjoyed Beaches and Cream more. Pepper Market was DH’s favorite.

Day 5 Wed. 12/15

Breakfast: Princess Story Book, Restaurant Akerhaus
We had 3 breakfast vouchers for this meal, BUT I FORGOT THEM BACK AT THE ROOM!

All you can eat, Family Style: Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage links, Cheesy Potatoes, Fruit, Biscuits, and Caramel Rolls. DD and I had Apple Juice, DH had Orange Juice. We didn’t finish what was put on the table. DD and I especially liked the Caramel Rolls. The rest of the food was pretty much the same as at CRT, but for some reason we liked the food at PSB better.

When I realized that I had forgotten the vouchers, I felt awful. We normally don’t pay this much for meals, and it had been a difficult decision to book the breakfast, even with the vouchers. Having to put the bill on the room key was a lesson I won’t soon forget.
Total voucher savings SHOULD have been: $22.11
___________________________________________________________________

Our plan was to not have lunch or dinner, but to share something small from each country, so we didn’t buy Q&Cs for this day.

We skipped Canada on purpose, with plans to come back later.
_______________________________________________________

UK: Yorkshire County Fish Shop
Snack size Fish and Chips

DD & I thought this was very good. DH thought it was too “Fishy”. I know, it’s FISH, but he eats some fish like from Long John Silver, which he says isn’t “fishy”.
________________________________________________________

France: Boulangerie Patisserie
Cake of the Day, which I forgot to ask what it was actually called

It was dark chocolate, with a couple of layers of dark chocolate filling, and a layer of raspberry filling. It was very good. I ate around the raspberry filling, and DD & DH ate that part.
___________________________________________________________

Morocco: Tangierine Café
Side order of Marinated Olives

DD loved this. DH ate some, but he just wasn’t feeling very hungry. I didn’t try it. It was bigger than we expected. DD would have finished it all, but we were afraid she might get sick from having so many.
__________________________________________________________

Japan: Yakitori House
Side order of Teriyaki Chicken

We all enjoyed this, it was very tender.
___________________________________________________________

We skipped USA
______________________________________________________

We skipped Italy because we were going to try a pastry, and after the rich cake we just weren’t ready for another sweet.
________________________________________________________________

Germany: Sommerfest
Large Pretzel

We enjoyed this also, it was very soft.
__________________________________________________________

We ran out of time because we wanted to see the tree lighting, so we didn’t get to try anything in China, Norway, or Mexico
____________________________________________________________

Later, we went back to Canada to get something to eat while we waited for Illuminations

Le Cellier
Cheese Soup to Go
3 Pretzel Breads

I had read that you could ask at the podium to order this as carry out. After reading so much about this, I had to have it. We all love chedddar soup like at Cheddar’s Restaurant. It was VERY COLD that night, which made the soup all that more appealing. What I didn’t realize was that they have to call one of the servers out to take your order, so that meant I needed to add a tip, and the server mistakenly thought we wanted 3 pretzel breads, making it almost $12 for our “snack“. To our surprise, we didn’t like the soup. In our opinion it was very sour, and I‘m not sure what the chunks were, I‘m assuming vegetables. I’m guessing the sour was from the beer, but I had read that most people didn’t think you could taste the beer. I know that we’re in the minority & most people love the soup, but we all agreed that it was the worst thing we ate on the trip. We enjoyed the pretzel bread though, and were glad we had 3 after all.

Day 6 Thurs. 12/16

We were resort hopping again, so we decided to skip breakfast and get something later again.

Snack: I thought we ate at Riverside Mill, but the receipt says Col Cotton Mill, maybe it’s the same place? Anyway, it was at POR

Garlic Sticks

We each had one. It was what you would expect, but we liked the ones at Mara better.

DH had asked the CM what Minestrone soup was, so she gave him a sample, which DD ate & really liked.
__________________________________________________________

Lunch: Beaches & Cream
We used 2 vouchers

Double Cheeseburger with bacon and grilled onions added, with onion rings
Chicken sandwich with cheese, bacon, and grilled onions added, with fries
2 Lime Rickeys
Banana Split
Frozen Sunshine to go

We split this meal just like we did the last time we were here. The food was really good again. DH really liked the fries, they were better than typical fast food fries. The chicken was good, but we had liked the roast beef better. The Lime Rickeys didn’t taste as good as the one we had earlier, they had an odd taste, and we wish we hadn’t gotten 2 of them this time. We were really surprised that the banana in the banana split was a whole banana stuck under the ice cream. We think this was a fluke because we ordered another one later in the week and it came with the banana split in half and on both sides of the dish. DH liked the split better than the Mudslide. The Frozen Sunshine that I had loved the last time was awful this time. DH thinks it had too much seltzer. It was very watery & kind of bitter, and I ended up throwing the last part away because it was so bad. I was leery of ordering another one on our next visit, which is too bad because the first one was so good. Even with some of the items not being as good as they had been before, overall it was a meal that we really enjoyed.

We didn’t get a receipt, but we think the total voucher savings was $27.93
_________________________________________________________

Dinner: Everything Pop

We decided not to use a voucher since we had eaten so much for lunch.

Cheesesteak Wrap with fries
Kid’s Meal Peanut Butter Fluff Sandwich on Tie dye bread with fries and goldfish crackers
Chocolate Chip Muffin
Watermelon cup
Grapes

DH and I shared the wrap. It was average. DD wasn’t very hungry so I finished her sandwich. We saved the crackers for later. The muffin and fruit were from the grab & go section, and were for breakfast the next morning to save a trip down to the food court.

Day 7 Fri. 12/17

Breakfast was the muffin and fruit we bought the night before.
The muffin wasn’t near as good as the one at Pepper Market.
______________________________________________

Lunch: Pizzafari, AK
We used 1 voucher here, and purchased a child’s AK voucher also

Pepperoni Pizza
Breadsticks
Dessert Pizza
Chocolate Nesquick
Kid’s meal Chicken Strips with carrots, celery and goldfish crackers
Small milk

We all shared everything. I had read that the Chicken was pieces of cold chicken, not what you think of as Strips. They did have a sample at the register, probably because it’s not what people would expect. The crackers weren’t in a bag like at other places, so we couldn’t save them for later. We liked this meal, even the chicken. Later DD used her AK Voucher coupons to get her very first Mickey Bar, which she really enjoyed, and a bottled water.

Q&C voucher savings: $4.01
AK voucher savings: $2.65
____________________________________________________________

Dinner: Everything Pop

We weren’t very hungry so we didn’t use vouchers.

Kids Meal Chicken Nuggets with fries and goldfish crackers
Fruit Cup
Grapes
Glazed Donut Holes

DD & I split the kid’s meal, and saved the crackers.
The donut holes and fruit were from the grab & go section, and were for breakfast the next morning. DH wondered why I bought the donut holes, but I thought they looked good. I opened them up that night to try them. They were Entemann’s (not sure if that’s spelled right), and we had never had that brand before (we had seen them in stores though). They were so good. I know it sounds funny, but I really liked them, they were so soft. DH doesn’t care much for glazed donuts, but he liked these. I told him they had a box of regular donuts in a variety pack so he went down and got one of those too. They were ok, but not as soft as the donut holes.

I still have Sat. - Tues. to do, but I probably won't be able to do it until Mon.

Thanks for reading! :D

DMRick, do you ever order the grill specials? I wouldn't have minded if we had been told to not get the extra side, there was way too much food anyway. (Just want to note that we did eat it all, so as not to waste it, but we didn't need that much) The CM at the registers the 2nd night was very unpleasant, but maybe she was just having a bad day.

We always get the prime rib with the great veggies and baked potato (and pickle), as well as the side salad and the bread.
We'll be doing this again next week, so we'll see how it goes!

Pardon my ignorance, but what are Q&C vouchers? I just booked our first package at WDW (we usually go the a la carte route) and purchase the base food package (1 table service, 1 counter service, one snack per person, per day).

I can't wait to go to some of these places! Thanks again for the great report angel's momma--I feel your pain about those in-the-room vouchers! Also, I notice you are now planning your second trip? Wasn't this one supposed to be the first and only? The World gets to you, doesn't it?!!!

HB2K--if you go over to the budget board you will see a meal voucher thread...tells everything you ever wanted to know, and more! I think I read that they are discontinued, though, because of all the new changes. The current batch expires at the end of this coming May.

Just for future reference. If you happen to forget your vouchers, pay the bill on the room key. When you go to pay your bill at the hotel, you can give them the vouchers and they will adjust the bill. We found this out in Dec from the manager at Chef Mickeys.

DMRick, please report back about the extra side.

There's actually a little more to what happened that night. I wasn't going to mention it, but since you've always been able to get the extra side, I'll tell the rest: The man who seated us the first night was reprimanded by the manager the 2nd night, and told that he'd have to cover the extra costs if it happened again. We hated the fact that he got in trouble.
