Hi guys,
Thought I'd pass along my dining review from a few weeks ago. I've been posting here and there, then it occurred to me that I should put my comments out there! I will try not to get too wordy.
2/9 DAY 1
Lunch at Pop Food Court - GOOD
We enjoyed the food court selections! This was a good starting point for us and to get used to using our dining plan credits.
Dinner at Sci Fi MGM - MEDIOCRE!
This was TRULY for ambience only. And it was totally cool to sit in cars and watch corny B movies. But the food was very, very average at best. I had a salmon dish on rice w/ some sort of caper butter. App was the chips w/ spinach/artichoke dip. DH had the ribs, which he said were just ok. Desserts were ok.
2/10 DAY 2
Lunch at Tusker House in AK - GOOD
I had a fried chicken sandwich, yummy, but it was veyr much like something you would get at a fast food joint. We all had cheesecake, which was VERY good.
Dinner at Tempura Kiku at Epcot - EXCELLENT
This place is in the same building as Teppanyaki. I have been to many teppanyaki places in my lifetime, so going to the one at Epcot was not a big deal to us. There was NO wait at T.K., but tons of people waiting for teppanyaki! T.K. is very small and intimate. Kind of like a u-shaped sushi bar. The cooks are all inside the "U" frying the food before your very eyes. We loved this place, the servers were all wonderful. My DH was born in Japan (came here when he was 3), so it was so awesome geting to talk to people who are really from there. This was a GREAT value on the dining plan, because the entrees really got to be expensive depending on what you got.
2/11 DAY 3
Lunch at Columbia Harbor at MK - GOOD
I had a ham sandwich, it was good but bread was kinda weird. Desserts were good. DH totally loved the clam chowder, lots of clams in it.
Dinner at Chef Mickey's at Contemp. - GOOD!!!
Buffet meal....contrary to other reviews, we really thought the food here was good for buffet fare! There were things that I haven't seen before on other buffets at home. And the character interaction was good too. The dessert bar was wonderful!!!
2/12 DAY 4
Earl of Sandwich at DTD - EXCELLENT
For counter service, they had wonderful food and desserts. I had a caprese, which is fresh mozzarella, basil and tomatoes. It was a happening place, pretty crowded!!!
OK guys, my mind is starting to slip so I'm ommitting the days from here on out.
Lunch at Yakitori House at Epcot - EXCELLENT
Our fav counter service. We had a combination w/ teriyaki, tempura, and sukiyaki. I also ordered the sushi, and it was very good. It was ALL awesome!!!
Shared entree at Lotus Blossum - AVERAGE
Nothing special....we had I think it was called twice cooked beef and was a little too spicy. Egg roll was fine. Ginger ice cream was weird! I also had a "bubble tea" which was a little chocolatey and had big tapioca bubbles - it was VERY interesting, kinda liked it!
Lunch at LeCellier - EXCELLENT!!!
Wow, they really do have the best steaks. I had filet and it was cooked perfect. I don't think I've ever had one cooked better, and I've had lots of steaks. I had the shrimp cocktail for app and DH had the candied salmon - both were very good. I got the ever famous beer cheese soup for my DD's app and I'm afraid to say that I didn't care for it. For dessert, DD had the smores dessert which was awesome, DH and I had the maple creme brulee. It was ALL fantastic!!!
Breakfast at Crystal Palace in MK - EXCELLENT!!!
More so for the character aspect than the food. We loved this meal. The food was very good too, but it was just magical getting to see Pooh and the gang.
Mama Melrose at MGM - AVERAGE
VERY tough steak. I should have sent it back. Nothing about this meal was memorable.
'Ohana at Poly - GOOD
This was our Valentine's Day meal. It was very good, but it was a ridiculous amount of food and they bring it out way too fast. The meat was definitely dry, which I've heard from other reviewers. The bread pudding dessert was VERY good. it's a very loud and busy place. I think we would go back again, but maybe not the next time we go. Too many other places we want to try!!!
