Dining Reservations Question

Are advance dinner reservations really required at Universal? I know at Disney you have to book at least 30 days in advance or you are completely out of luck. Is it anywhere near like that at Universal? I haven't been in 12 years and was able to do a walk up lunch at Mythos. Any advice would be much appreciated.

We don't ever reserve dining. We also go in late Spring, stay many days, and if a place is too busy we just return a different day. if it's going to be very crowded, you are not staying many days, and/or there are "MUST EAT AT" places for you, then maybe scheduling a few meals wouldn't hurt. A ouple days up to a week early should be more than fine.

It won't be too bad.

Apart from the 25th the rest of your trip is midweek, not as busy as weekends which even at that time of year can be extremely busy.

Oh good, we are heading over to Disney that evening for the Halloween party and will be eating dinner for the first time at Be Our Guest. Won't have to worry about eating on Uni property that date anyhow. Thanks!

I made a Mythos reservation and glad I did. Slow day but walk up people arriving at 11:45 were given 2pm return times. I only made it a few days ahead of time.

Related, what about breakfast? I have to take my daughter to breakfast at the Leaky Cauldron on February 14. Should I get reservations for that? If so how far in advance?

Wouldn't be a bad idea to make one when you are closer to that date

Any reason you want to do breakfast there? The lunch and dinner offerings are better/ more interesting. If you hit it at opening or just planned before the normal rushes, you should be fine.

I want to make it a realistic experience. She wakes up and gets her letter on her 11th birthday. Breakfast at Leaky Cauldron before exploring wizarding London. Then a ride to "school" on the Hogwart's express. We will have dinner the next day most likely in the 3 broomsticks as that's my birthday!
