Our ADR window will be opening up soon...

We know we have 9 people going to Disney World for a week. We also, however, have another group of 4 who may come but likely won't make their minds up until we get much closer.

Should I go ahead and make reservations for 13, or should I do two reservations -- one for nine and one for four? And cancel accordingly? If I go ahead and make reservations for 13, can I make the party group smaller without any trouble?

Also, I believe i'll have to call to make reservations for 13. Is this a problem vs. booking online?

We did a trip in June with 16 and I booked online for the whole group and had no issues.

As for whether to book 2 reservations - I would book for the 13 and then modify the reservation if they decide not to go. It is easier to go from a larger group than a smaller group. Also - they will not let you bow 2 reservations for the same room at the same time period. someone else would have to book it on a different room.

Thanks! It seems sometimes it says to call for a dining reservation of a certain size -- maybe the specific restaurant requires it.

We had to book HDDR as 2 groups of 7 as it would not let us book for 14 online, when I called at 7a they did not have room for 14. But for CP we had no issue booking 13 (one won't be with us for that meal).

I think this is true. We have a reservation for 17 at Tusker House, but Coral Reef couldn't do a reservation for a party larger than 8.

And yes, as said earlier, I would book for the total group and then call and downsize if you need to.

It depends on the restaurant, which is frustrating because there is no way to find out easily how big of reservations the places take.

I've done big reservations at Tusker House and Ohana (20 people) but had to break up reservations for a place like Garden Grille into parties of 10 people.
