Dining reservations for 1

If the only reservation a restaraunt had was for four people, would you book it? I was tempted, but I didn't feel it was right. I will keep checking.

I do all of the time. Also tables for 2. Disney’s system discriminates against parties of 1 for ADRs,

If it was me I would call and ask, if the restaurant does allow for single diners I would be patient but if not I would book the smallest they have and leave a comment about inclusion.

Book it - this is a flaw in their system. When you go to check in you can put the actual guest count and then they will expect only one person. I've had to do this many times.

Yes, as posted above it’s an issue with the booking system. If all the tables are 4-tops, the system tries to fill them with 3 or 4 people.

IOW, book for 4 and when checking in tell them there’s only one. There won’t be any penalty - it happens all the time.

Book it. The 2 reservations I have through the Disney system for my next trip had to be booked for 2 people because there was NOTHING for 1 but fully open for 2. If Disney wants to play this game, then I will beat them at it.

I generally book tables for 2 when I'm solo - that usually works...but if a restaurant dominated by 4-tops was completely impossible to book for 1-2, but readily available for 4, I'd probably book it. As mentioned, a long known flaw in Disney's reservation system for solo dining...I can't tell you how many times there's no availability for 1, but switch to 2 and suddenly dozens of times are available. Parties of 1 or 2 would use up the same table size, so there shouldn't be such a discrepancy.

I've booked for more than 1, then modified it to 1.

Stop blaming the "system", blame the appropriate party... Disney. They could fix this, if they really wanted to. Remember they are a $176 Billion dollar company. The have the resources, they do it so they can make more money on larger parties. By all means book it and don't sweat it or think twice about it.

I'm also a solo who always books for two, ever since I couldn't get Ale and Compass for a single. There was no availability, even weeks out-for a single at breakfast. However, when I switched to two people, there were plenty of openings, as soon as the next day. So now I always book for two, and the restaurant never has a problem when I show up without a second person.
