We made dining reservations and then decided the dining plan would be a better deal for us. Do I need to anything to our current reservations to tie them to our dining plan?

Nope you don't need to do a thing. I usually do the same thing. The only time I purchase the DP first is if we plan on going to CRT. If you have the DP added to your reservation you don't have to pay for CRT when you do your reservation.

We are doing this for our May trip and did book CRT at 180 days - I've been told that when i call MS to add the dining plan, they will refund the CRT pre-pay charges to my credit card. So you can still book CRT before you make up your mind, you'll just be pre-paying that part.

The same thing happened to me this year. We made ADRs then decided the DDP made sense. I was worried, but it was very easy. You just have to tell your server that you are using the DDP.

not at all, we booked many of our ADR's months in advance before we ever decided if we were using DDP or not. When you check in at the the restaurant, they will ask you ( or you can tell them ) so your server will know. That's all.
