Dining Reservation???

I’m getting frustrated with the daily checking. We are offsite so I can only do one day at a time. I was able to get some hard ones but today couldn’t get anything at Yak and Yeti? When did that become so popular?

I'm in the same boat, staying off property, and the start of my 60 days is in just a few days. I've already accepted I won't get much. However, I don't regret staying off property this trip. We booked the hotel for this trip last October at an unbelievable rate and canceled our package at Pop. The amount we're saving on the hotel makes not getting the 60+10 benefit worth it.

I think going back to the 180 days to make an ADR would definitely help those who have their trips planned 6+ months in advance.

Not everyone plans that far in advance so the number of guests vying for those reservations at 180 days would be fewer and chances of grabbing a coveted reservation would be better. Unless, I am missing something....

This.

Previous poster is correct that the number of slots open doesn't change at 60 days vs. 180, but the number of people trying for them at the same time may vary a lot.

Let's turn this thing around 180 degrees (see what I did there?) and bring back the 180 day window! (Not to mention, for some of us, it's part of how we cope with the wait!) :)

Going to 180 days won't do anything to help get ADR's. There is only so many ADR's in a day and making them available 60 days, 180 days or any other metric doesn't change that.

Exactly what I was going to say. When they first reopened, I can see how everyone was competing for the first 60 days or so, but at this point, the only people who would be looking for all their sit-downs within the 60 days are people who booked within the 60 days. Otherwise, you would have been booked before the 60 day mark.

I just want to add that many reservations open up the day/evening before you are visiting a specific park/resort. Many people cancel reservations the day beforehand that they are not going to use so they do not get charged the $10 per person no show fee.

I have a hard time deciding what to eat for breakfast on a daily basis! Who can plan what they want to eat 6 months out??? I like the 60 day window. But...to each his own.

I can lol. Maybe I'm not in the norm, but food is such a big part of my vacation that I start thinking about what I want to eat a year or more before.

Another hint is to check all the time slots around your desired reservation time. I've seen huge changes in availability, for some reason, when changing my time by just 30 minutes. If I'm looking for 12pm, I'll check each half hour from 11am to 1:30pm for example. Not sure why but sometimes you hit a timeslot that opens a bunch more ressies.

leaving the rest of the day as an "open day" where we can wing it based off of how we feel is probably better.

Check out the festival food. We always spend a day or 2 wandering Epcot and checking out the various booths and types of food. You can find some unique options and with all the countries there is something for everyone.

Glad I read through this thread. Because of the pandemic I thought my Disney skills were getting rusty. I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking that it is much harder to get a ADR then it was before! I agree with someone who said that the 180 day mark is better because it reduces the number of people who are actually plan that far out. It seems like everyone can plan at 60 Days. I hope stuff opens up for my August trip. I'm really hoping of Ohana, Sci-Fi, Oga's, and Sanaa--which are all fully booked for lunch and dinner as of today.

Interesting. I usually search "lunch" or "dinner." Are you saying that searching a more specific time might unlock some secret reservation?

That was our plan in 2019 (or 2018??) and while it was great for DW and me, not so much for the ravenous teenagers that seem to follow us everywhere!

Not really secret reservations, but checking the specific time slots doesn't hurt to work the system. For whatever reason, the Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner selections don't always present you with options, while a specific time slot selection will show a reservation within what should be like the "lunch" or "dinner" time frames.

Yup, check every window within a couple hours of your desired time. The availability seems really random, a time will pop up at one selection, but not others all within the supposed 3 hour window it's checking.
I noticed this a ton when trying to book ADRs day-of on our last trip.

this exactly. I have searched for say 5pm, didn’t see what I wanted, so searched 5:30pm and different options came up (?)
