Do we need to have park reservations to book a dining reservation? I ask because we might schedule a visit based on if we can get a dining reservation that day.

No, you do not have to have a park reservation to reserve dining. You just need the park reservation to get into the park to get to your dining reservation.

No, I booked several dining reservations before I bought tickets and made park reservations for September.

As others have said, no you don't need a park ressie to book dining.

BUT, that dining ressie will NOT guarantee you a park ressie later on if the park is booked for your dining day by the time you get around to getting your park ressie. Best to book both the same day or as soon as you can after making your dining ressie.
