Hi everyone! Has anyone ever made a dining reservation for a big party? We have two dining reservations for our upcoming trip and there are 9 of us. We weren't able to reserve online for 9, and we read that for a larger party to call. So we called and they are telling us no, we have to split the party up and hopefully when we get to the restaurant they will be able to sit us together or near each other. Is this correct? What are the chances of that happening though? Thank you!

we did 12 people, 2 different trips at T-Rex, we made it for 6 online and when we arrived, headed to DS our first day and went up and told them additional family joined our trip and they got us a table, we all sat together, grandkids love T-rex, didn't try it elsewhere
but disney seems accommodating

The official response is 'we will do our best to seat you at tables near each other'...but magic can happen. I would suggest contacting the restaurant directly as early as you can to let them know that the two reservations are really one party, and sometimes they can work things out so at a minimum, you get seated at adjacent tables.

Then there's the pixie dust.

We did this for a Topolino's breakfast reservation this past June. The only way we could get a spot for our group of six was to make two separate reservations for 3. When I checked in (about 15 minutes early) I remarked that we were, in fact, one big group and would love to be able to sit together. I got the "we will do our best, but no guarantees"...and we ended up at a single round table for six.

You just never know...

We travel with a group of either 12 or 16 people and always receive the standard response but have always been at tables next to each other or pushed together. Beaches and Cream is the only restaurant that we were not seated together or near one another, there 12 of us.

I've made ADR's for as many as 16.

So yeah it can be done.

Its just likely that there was not availability for that many at the times you wanted.

If you book for multiple small parties they will try to seat you together once you check in but it also may not be possible.

we have done 7-12 some places with the larger group you are at the same table others you are split. For specific restaurants I would post just that. You can also think about where you have been in the past and what places have larger tables however that does not mean the table is available. I do recall at Tuto Italia we were split into tables of 4 - not saying they do not have larger tables I really do not recall other places we were accommodated although sometimes it was a but tight and other times tables pushed together.

We had a trip in 2022 with 13 of us. All our reservations were split into 2 reservations at the same time (or within 15 minutes) and I think they were able to sit us together for most, if not all. I would go up to the hostess and explain the situation and they were able to seat us together. The key was not to check in using the mobile app before that because then the system would randomly assign tables.

It will depend on the restaurant; some don't have table that will seat more than 8 people. I have spilt the group and booked and the people at the front were very helpful.

Yes check in in person early, maybe an hour if possible. This gives current diners time to finish while staff can scope out which tables will be available for your request. Then don't nag or hover, be nice and they will try their best to make it happen for you :) .
