My travel agent booked the 7 day Rome to Barcelona trip for me (June 23, 2018), but said that the main seating for dining was not available? She said I would go on a wait list and it would probably clear since it was so early. However, I was able to go online and book one cat higher but was able to get the main seating for dining on the same cruise. I guess I'm a little confused. Should I keep my reservation with main seating (extra $260 but slightly better location) or switch it and hope to get the early seating?

Never heard of a higher category being able to get main dining while the other category couldn't. Most likely you will get the main dining in the end. Lots of people will cancel it happens every cruise. But once people look into air fare a lot more will cancel for your cruise.

Interesting. Guess this is another example why I prefer to handle things vs having a TA. Just like having the ability to handle changes, etc on my own.

FYI from what I've read on the European cruises the later dining is more popular.

Thanks all. I think I'll stick with my reservation. Agree about doing it myself, but hard to pass up the OBC!

I've heard that DCL blocks off a lot of the main seating at first because they know most people want them and kind of wait until a lot of people (especially families with young children) can make their requests and then they back track filling in the dining requests. I don't know if that is true at all but that may be why your TA couldn't immediately get you in. I agree since you booked so early I seriously doubt you'll have trouble switching to main seating.
