Disclaimer - one of the diners, Mr. B, was a very picky 3.5 year old, hence our choice or restaurants.
2/28 - I had made ADRs at Chef Mickeys for our first night. Used 2 TS credits on the dining plan. It was a great way to start the trip. The character interaction at the meal was great. In fact I was so excited I totally forgot to take any pics of the food. But the food was good too. I had prime rib, roast turkey, salmon, amazing parmesan mashed potatoes, and enough peeled shrimp and cocktail sauce to make me swim upstream. Mr. B ate 3 dinner rolls, a slice of pizza and turned his nose up at the rest of the regular food. We both enjoyed the sundae bar and the chocolate chip cookies.
3/1 - Breakfast at the Food and Fun Center at the Contemporary. Paid OOP for breakfast. I got the adult breakfast platter with eggs, sausage, biscuit and the kid's pancake platter with bacon. It was one of the few times I ordered a kid's CS meal for Mr. B. Most of our CS meals were lunch or dinner and he was content with french fries or mooching off of my plate. Not cordon bleu, but good and filling.
Lunch at Crystal Palace. 2 TS credits. Another great character meal. Eeyore and Tigger came around right away and Mr. B was in heaven. Pooh didn't come around until near the end of the meal but it gave us time to eat which was fine. The food was excellent. I had flank steak, pork loin, an extremely delicious salmon, scrummy red skin mashed potatoes. Mr. B loved the bread and ate some pizza. The desserts were very good. I sampled almost everything, but particularly enjoyed the little brownies and the boston cream cake.
Dinner at the Food and Fun Center. 2 CS credits. Grilled chicken breast sandwich and fries for me, with chocolate cake on the side for me. Decent burger and fries. I was too full for the cake which came back to our hotel room and then forgot it in our fridge. I ordered the kid's chicken tender meal for Mr. B. It was a waste since he refused to eat the tenders. It did come with applesauce and little mickey cheese crackers which he ate. I got grapes as the dessert with the meal and we had those as a snack for the next couple of days. This was the last kid's CS meal that I ordered.
3/2 - Breakfast at the Food and Fun Center. A croissant for me and a bagel for Mr. B and paid OOP.
Lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue. 1 CS credit. I got the ribs and wow, they were great!!! I asked the CM at the register what she recommended and she said she was split between the ribs and the rotisserie chicken, but had to go for the ribs. They were excellent. Nice sides of corn and beans. I got a tasty chocolate cake with it for dessert. Mr. B was content with a fries from Petrifies we'd picked up on the way to Flame Tree.
Dinner at Concourse Steakhouse. 2 TS credits. It was nice to go to a sit-down restaurant that wasn't a buffet, but it still was very kid-friendly and Mr. B loved watching the monorail run through the restaurant. For appetizers we got the onion rings and from the children's menu the shrimp cocktail. I ate the shrimp and Mr. B ate alot of the onion rings. I would have loved to get the scallops but didn't figure they would have the same appeal to Mr. B. For our entrees, I got the pizza for Mr. B, which came already cut into 4 pieces, his preferred way of eating pizza, and the filet mignon for me. Very tender, definitely a nice change of pace for me (I'm a chicken/fish gal usually). Great mashed potatoes with it. For dessert Mr. B got vanilla ice cream and I ordered the triple chocolate cake (yes, notice a chocolate theme here). It was actually chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting next to it, and drizzled chocolate on the side.
3/3 - Breakfast at Chef Mickeys. 2 TS credits. Dinner at Chef Mickeys was really nice but breakfast was better. It was a little quieter and less chaotic and Mr. B and I are both breakfast people. The same child who was subsisting on french fries, pizza and chocolate chip cookies put away a meal that would choke a pig. There was a couple at the table next to us with a 2 year old and the mom spent the whole meal trying to get the little girl to take 2 bites of food and just stared with mouth agape while Mr. B downed eggs, bacon, sausage, Mickey waffles, biscuits and milk. I took a nice sampler of everything. I especially loved the corn bread corned beef hash. Really good character interaction again too.
Lunch at Backlot Express. 1 CS credit. I got a burger and fries and the chocolate bundt cake for dessert. Paid OOP for a fries for Mr. B. Very juicy burger, good fries and yummy cake. Great CMs there. I bumped the stroller while I was pushing it and holding the tray on the way to the table and Mr. B dropped half the fries he was holding. A CM ran over and helped us to a table and got us another fries for free. Mr. B was in heaven since he now had 1 1/2 sets of fries and could go into a sodium coma.
Dinner at Food and Fun Center. 2 CS credits. Mr. B wanted pizza which wasn't on the children's menu. I ordered the adult CS meal and got yet another burger and fries for me. They didn't say anything to me about ordering two adult CS meals which I think is partly because where you place the order they have no idea how you'll be paying since you order and then pay elsewhere. Mr. B liked the pizza alot, and his chocolate chip cookie dessert better. I agreed about the cookie. I got a fairly tasteless chocolate cupcake that was discarded after one bite.
3/4 - Breakfast at Chef Mickeys again. 2 TS credits. Yes, we went to Chef Mickey's alot. It was so convenient because we were staying at the Contemporary, it's great to start the day off with the characters and again Mr. B ate enough food to feed a small army.
Lunch at Sunshine Seasons Food Fair. 1 CS credit. Wow, what a great change from most of the CS options. I was really stuck between the flank steak with the wild greens and tabouleh or the grilled salmon with mashed potatoes. I went with the salmon and it was a great choice. I couldn't believe this was CS food. Got a chocolate chip cookie for dessert with it for Mr. B. He didn't want any of the meals they had there. I got him an applesauce and juice to go with the cookie. (Note - This is not his normal diet, he does actually eat healthy food when we're at home, I swear).
Dinner at the Food and Fun Center, again. 1 CS credit. In case you can't guess, Mr. B liked it there alot. I got the chicken breast sandwich again and another cookie. I paid OOP for a side of fries for Mr. B. I had 2 snack credits left over and the CM let me get rice krispie treats to take home with them.
3/5 - Breakfast a the Food and Fun Center. 2 CS credits. Used up the last of our CS credits. I got the adult breakfast platter and pancake platter. Not the best use of CS credits but we were leaving and I needed to use them up.
All in all, the food was pretty good. We both really enjoyed Chef Mickeys for breakfast and liked Crystal Palace alot. I really enjoyed Concourse Steakhouse and the meals at Flame Tree Barbecue and Sunshine Seasons. Mr. B loved the Food and Fun Center, mostly I think because of the attached Fun Center arcade or the "lovely ride store" as he called it. And it was convenient for us, but I would have enjoyed some other dining options but you gotta do what you gotta do. I also calculated and I figure I saved about $40 by using the DDP. If we'd eaten alot of our meals outside the Food and Fun Center I'm sure I would have saved alot more $$.
