I have a trip planned for September and have a few questions about where I should dine. This will be my friend's daughter's first time. She will be celebrating her birthday on our first day in the parks. My dad will also be celebrating our 3rd day.
We plan on doing the parks in this order: AK, DHS, Epcot, and then MK. We do not have park hoppers which may prove to be the biggest issue. (But they cant be afforded).
1st question: Where is a good 1st day character breakfast or Dinner for a 10year old girl? Obviously not in any of the parks (unless its AK).
2nd question: How is the Brown Derby? Also does anyone know if its (1TS or 2TS) on the DDP with the fantasmic seating?

Any other recomindations would be appreciated!
Also we are definatly doing CP on MK day.

Thanks for your help!

1st question: Where is a good 1st day character breakfast or Dinner for a 10year old girl? Obviously not in any of the parks (unless its AK).

1900 Park Fair in the Grand Floridian or Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary.

Would you suggest Breakfast or Dinner for those meals?

1900 Park Fair Breakfast is Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter (and when we were there, Minnie Mouse, Winnie The Pooh & Tigger were there also).

1900 Park Fair for dinner is Cinderella's Gala Feast & just Cinderella characters.

We only did the breakfast because my son is not interested in the Cinderella' characters. :lmao: But it was great! And a lot of people I know have done the dinner & love it.

Chef Mickey's is fun for Breakfast or Dinner!

Personally I like a character breakfast if we are eating outside of the park, because once we are in the park, we dont want to "have" to leave for a dinner. We only leave if we want to.

Hmmmm 1900 Park Fair is sounding good for a 1st day breakfast.... I wonder how random the other characters (pooh, tigger, and minnie) are. I know the 10yr old loves tigger (which is why we're doing CP later in the week). I would love to meet MadHatter.
Thank you

1. I would suggest 1900 Park Faire, haven't had breakfast there but dinner was very very good :goodvibes With the Cindy themeing at dinner it seems like a good choice for a princess's birthday dinner princess:

2. Brown Derby is EXCELLENT! We love it. It is a 2 TS credit meal on the DDP.

So her birthday AK has EMH (evening). Do you think a late dinner is advisable? Or a bad idea?
It is our first day so we'll probably have plenty of energy.
It just crossed my mind that an early breakfast that close to the MK may make someone want to go there (and mess up our well thought out plans, even if it is her birthday).

HMMM... I would stick with "out of sight, out of mind" and stay away from the MK area if you don't want to go there that day :rolleyes1

I haven't looked at the hours, how late will AK be open? Will you be going at rope drop & hoping to stay till close? If you're on the DDP, I'd suggest a late(ish) CS lunch at Flame Tree BBQ. It's a full size, real food meal that will more than fill you up until a late(r) dinner :goodvibes

Other dinner options would be:
Rainforest Cafe (a little loud for my tastes :rolleyes1 but kids seem to enjoy it ;) ) It's right there at AK, so you could break at dinner time and then go back into the park for EMH.

Boma at AKL, while it doesn't scream princess: birthday  it's a great restaurant, 5 minute bus ride from AK. We have done the day at AK, gone to Boma for dinner and then back for EMH, it was a nice break from the park but quick & easy to get back.

AK rope drop is what we are hoping for.... (we are not morning people) but we manage normally to get there right after rope drop.
Its open from 9-5 to extra magic hours. (Meaning probably open till at least 7ish). We LOVE extra evening hours at AK its always empty.
I wanted Boma but I was out voted! (They shouldn't be able to do that to the planner) Also we had a GREAT (CM) experiance at RainForest, but dad wants Characters!!!
Flame Tree is GREAT but I think we may try the new CS at Y&Y for lunch.
Maybe 1900 Park Fair wouldn't be bad if we did it after a FULL day at AK. But then again it may cause her to want to visit it the next day.
hmmmmm

If park hours are listed as 5pm, then EMH will go till 8pm (of course you might not  )
Sorry you got out voted on Boma :sad2: that's just wrong
I'd say have a good lunch, maybe a snack too and go to 1900 Park Faire for a late dinner. I wouldn't worry about her wanting to go to MK the next day, something else will distract her before she goes to sleep that night. I have a 14yr old DD and DS11, trust me, they're easily distracted :rotfl:
