We will (hopefully) be at DL for 5 days in June. Part of what we will be celebrating is my daughter's 21st birthday. I realize there are a lot of details to be figured out, but I wanted to get a head start on planning so I can make reservations when / if they become available. We'll be a group of 5.

We are definitely not picky eaters, but don't need or want fancy.

Ogas, the menu looks...unique. How are the food and drinks there. Can you get the "Yub Nub" without the souvenir Endor mug? Are the drinks actually good or are you just paying for something to say you were there? Is the meat and cheese platter worth $21 or should we just stick with the party mix and get another snack elsewhere (Bengal BBQ, yum).

Lamplight Lounge. I've never been, but I seem to recall from planning last year that there is an upstairs and downstairs. Do they both take reservations and do they offer the same menu? We'd like a table with a view. Are there misters or fans to keep you cool in the summer if you are outside?

Craftsman Bar and Grill. I've never been here either. It looks like they are the same menu but the Grill takes reservations and the Bar does not. Is that correct? What should I know about the differences between the two?

Black Tap, do they take reservations? They don't on the Disney website but can you call ahead to get one?

Is there anywhere else you would recommend or anything else you think I should know?

Thanks!

So, I can tell you about my experiences at a couple of these places. We are just 2 adults traveling so I'm not sure what it would be like with a 5 people but I would say probably not much different.

Ogas: we love Star Wars and have been here 3 times in 2 trips. I would not pay for the food there; the only thing we tried was the Mustafarian roll in one morning visit (because I wanted the Bloody Rancor to drink) and it was fine but I would rather get food elsewhere before having a drink here. At one point you could get the drinks without the mug but I don't remember what that status was on that when DL closed down. We wanted the mugs so we didn't ask. I really liked the atmosphere and would probably stop there again to try drinks we haven't tried yet but having been able to go a few times it wouldn't break my heart to miss it when we go back again.

Lamplight Lounge: I liked the atmosphere, the beer I had, the desserts etc. But we got the lobster nachos and frankly I wasn't a fan of them. The nachos at Craftsman bar were way better. But I would go back here again to try other food options. We went in August so it was really hot out but we sat inside. It was still a great view of the pier even indoors.

Craftsman grill is actually quick service inside the hotel but you can do mobile order for it. It has some good food options but I prefer the bar outside. 028 don't think either does reservations but we always enjoyed sitting outside by the pool (you don't have to be a guest at the hotel to visit of course) and having food and drink. As I said above, the nachos they had were freakin' fantastic and there is also a charcuterie pizza that we have in both our last 2 visits. Like I have dreams about those nachos. The bar is also really nice in the evenings when it is still a little warm out but not so hot as during the day (not a lot of shade for the summer sun).

Haven't been to Black Tap so I can't comment. Other places we have enjoyed for just having drinks is Carthay Lounge, Trader Sams at the DLH (if it is open by your trip I highly would recommend it- it's just fun), and the Hearthstone Lounge in the GCH. We also had a drink once at Naples in DTD but we've only been there once and didn't have any food so I'm not sure if that is worth a stop or not but we did enjoy the drinks.

hello-I can say I tell folks going to oga’s to eat elsewhere. It’s more what I would call a snack place. The drinks are very fun. It’s an experience more than a restaurant type deal. you should for sure try to go. It’s very small inside so I’m not sure how the new spacing protocol is going to work but I’m going to try for sure in May. lamplight is very good food and fun. Get a reservation or walk up table for wherever you can and enjoy. Order the doughnuts. Trust me.
carthay is gorgeous and worth it. as a huge over planner myself I would recommend Disneyland Daily Casey on instagram and Facebook and her website. Lots of good info and she is super good at getting back to questions.😉 have a big time when you go.

Black tap has amazing over the top milkshakes and very good burgers, but I think if you don’t intend on getting one of the crazy shakes you are better off elsewhere. Also no reservations, it’s counter service but the food gets brought to your table.

Those shakes are so good though that it is one of our semi regular stops. Our favorites are the cookie shake and the brownie shake. The cake is really good on the cake shake but wasn’t a fan of the actual shake part of it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. She went to DL Dec 2019 and couldn't get into Oga's and it's high up on her list of places to go. And the milkshakes at Black Tap are the reason to go there. They look ridiculously over the top.

Oga’s is not really a place for food. I love the atmosphere and the drinks are fun. I can’t speak to most of them because I’ve always only ordered a beer (very good) and my son has ordered the blue milk with a cookie on top (cookie is amazing). But friends have enjoyed their “fun” drinks. They are strict about the souvenir drinks... you have to order as is. They also move you in and out quickly. It’s a brief stop but fun!

Great info, thanks! We'll plan to eat before so we aren't drinking on an empty stomach. We don't need to spend long there, but would like to experience it. The souvenir drink sounds the most like what she would like, so we will ask if we can get it without the mug. We'll be prepared for them to say no and pleasantly surprised if they say yes.

HI!

Below are my opinions.

Lamplight - I really like the setting and sitting by the water. Not a fan of the lobster nachos either. :)
Black Tap - I thought the food was ok and the shakes are just over the top if you are into that. I rather just get a shake from Ghiradelli.
Craftsman Bar & Grille - I really like it too because it is a good place to chill and just snack on food.
Suggestions - If you like steak, Steakhouse 55 is a good place. I really enjoy the ambiance there. Or something fancy would be Napa Rose, which I also like quite a bit.

Have a super fun trip!

Skip all the food at Ogas. Get the drinks and enjoy. They aren't very strong so you don't necessarily need to eat beforehand but I HIGHLY recommend a Ronto Wrap for a snack before or after.

Lamplight Lounge is better with a reservation. If you do walk up, you can only sit in the outside tables on the upper level and it has a much more limited menu (both drinks and food). With a reservation you will get a better table location and a better variety of food and drink options. I actually love this place for brunch! Favorites here are the secret menu drinks like the Fun Wheel! Also a huge fan of the potato skins and piggy wings. The nachos are gross. Agree that Craftsman has FAR better nachos.

Craftsman Bar and Grill has a great drink with cucumber and lime that is perfection. I highly recommend the drinks here. Just walk up and have a seat at the bar. Besides the nachos, the food is underwhelming and the food service is slow as molasses, so don't come here if you are in a hurry. The inside Quick Service has really good food and you can mobile order. Food here takes a long time too, so be forewarned. They have great breakfast here.

Napa Rose Lounge has a great relaxing atmosphere. Show up right at 5pm to get a seat right away. Order the Kate & Ella cocktail. And then order another one. You're welcome in advance. The full NR menu is available in the lounge as well. If you just want something small, they always have great apps and desserts.

Black Tap is nothing special. It's just WAY overpriced burgers. The milkshakes are more for visual appeal than taste. You will get the best milkshake on property at Ghirardelli, hands down.

Highly recommend Naples. It's my favorite restaurant at DtD. The staff and the manager there are the absolute best. I also really like Uva bar. They have some great drinks there and the bartenders are always nice. The pizza is to die for.

Also love Steakhouse 55 breakfast, but not sure DLH will be open in June. I doubt it will be.

However, be aware that there is a possibility that bars will not be seating patrons in June. Bars will be slow to come back online in CA and at this point, they will not seat people there at all, due to not being able to maintain distance between bar staff and diners. This may impact all the bars at the resort for awhile.

I had the poke bowl and the avocado toast at Craftssman Grill and both were amazing. I still think about that Poke Bowl. I saw someone had the nachos and those looked as good as people are reporting!
