I had posted a few days ago regarding being charged tax in addition to my 34.99 and 9.99 per person. Most people responded and indicated that there was no tax added on after the 34.99 and 9.99 (indicating the tax was included in the 34.99 and 9.99).
I asked my AAA TA and this is what I got back---what do you think?
*******************************************************

I called Disney this morning about your calculation questions. This is how they broke down the pricing.

The room rate is roughly $93/nt including the 11.5% tax (AAA rate of
$84.15x11.5%tx) multiply that by 16 (8nts x 2rooms)

the total room cost is $1488.00.

The dining plan is $34.99 plus 6.5% tax paid upfront for the dining plan. You do not pay for taxes and gratuities when you get to the restaurant because the taxes and gratuities are included in the plan but you do pay taxes on the plan. So, you would take $34.99 x 8 days=$279.92 plus 6.5%tx=$298.12 x 2 adults/$9.99 x 8days=$79.92 plus 6.5%tx=$85.12 x 2 children.

Dining plan for 2 adult $298.12x2=$596.24
Dining plan for 2 child $85.12x2=$170.24

The 8 day premium (plus pak) tickets for 2 adults/2 children I was told with tax=$1073.58 AAA only offers a 7 day premium discounted ticket. Disney told me that the ticket price above includes taxes and no discounts.

Insurance is $49.95 per adult that covers the children at no extra cost. Total is $89.90

So, if I add the following:
$1488.00
$596.24
$170.24
$1073.58
$89.90
Total is $3417.96. And you paid $3405.34.

I booked the MYW dining - 2 months after I had already booked and paid for the room and tickets. My cost which was charged to my Disney Visa was $719.68. We are 2 adults and 2 children - DD 9 and DS 3. We were only charged $34.99 pd/pp adult and $9.99 pd/pp child (no tax) this was thru the disney travel.

I have to agree with happy. I booked through Disney travel and had already paid in full for the room and tickets. Then 2 months later I decided to add the dining plan. The price of 34.99 x 4 and 9.99 x 2 was the exact amount they charged me for and I paid for it right then. Its possible the rate they tell us already includes the tax. Who knows but it wasn't any more than the said price. I'm going in 12 days wahoooo!!!!!!

And it was for an 8 night stay - You have to get it for the number of nights you stay at the resort - not the number of ticket days you have.

Same for me! I can't wait to eat :goodvibes

did you all book through disney. I called guest services and they said 34.99 and 9.99 include tax and gratuity, but she did say that the total package is taxed.....so maybe that is where the confusion is. Any thoughts?

Hmmm.. maybe it is something that Disney charges through AAA??? I booked through Disney, again added after the fact, and it was 34.99/9.99 tax included.
.

I booked thru disney travel too & had added the dining. It was exactly 34.99 & 9.99 pp when it was added. Maybe the tax laws are different when the package is "sold" thru a 3rd party. :confused3

That is the only logical explanation. However, the calculations are still off for the OP then :confused3 Very weird!

For the record, I wasn't taxed either. :rolleyes1

I went through AAA and bought the "package". I was not charged tax on the dining! I checked and double checked my numbers and they came out just as I thought they would.

I talked to my AAA Agent today and she said that you are not charged tax on the dining plan the tax is included in the 34.99. I would talk to whoever you booked your tickets through because they are dead wrong on charging you tax. I even called Disney myself and sure enough my AAA Agent was right.

Good Luck

This is the EXACT transaction from our bank account. We too added dining after we paid for the rest of our package and I realized what a great deal it was!!
This is for 2 adults and 3 children for 6/10-6/17. The way I figure it that's not taxed, feel free to check my math! I am arithmatic challenged!

I booked 10 aaa packages with dining. I had already booked the room only so I knew exactly what that cost was. Each of the rooms had different ticket requests all of which I had pre calculated on line. Each was charged at the advance sales price, and then the dining cost was added- exactly 34.99 per person per night. The taxes charged were on the room and tickets- just as everyone would calculate. Your TA is wrong.
