Does anyone know if the dining plan topic will be brought up at the annual meeting on Nov. 30th? If so, what does everyone think of the chances of something being rolled out or announced about it?

It's all speculation at this point. I suspect if there was significant movement towards establishing a program anytime in the next several months, we'd have heard more concrete rumors by now than we've heard. It would be interesting for someone to bring it up at the meeting, but I bet more people will want to talk about the budget instead.

On the 2005 Member Cruise, Jim Lewis (Head of DVC) gave a talk where he discussed the future of DVC (as much as he could - he obviously couldn't say where the next resorts would be etc.) and answered questions from the audience.

The very first topic that was discussed was the meal plan. He stated that the reason it is not currently offered is due to problems with the computer system. He stated that a project was already underway to get this fixed so that dinning plans could be offered in the future. He emphasized that it is not a matter of 'if' it is a matter of 'when'. He said that they absolutely would be available at some point in the future.

He also stated that they hope to be able to make an announcement at the annual meetings regarding the timeframe for when it would become available.

You'd think that after all this time DVC would have found the one computer programmer in the entire world who knows how to let the DVC system recognize the dining plan people. :rolleyes1

Don't believe this is simply a computer programming issue.

What happened to the rumors that the dining plan was going to be extended to AP Holders? That kind of faded away.

I could buy the "computer programming" excuse for a couple months but it's been a year now since they rolled out the MYW Dining Plan.

I think the first annual meeting is Wednesday. If they have something to announce, it will come out during the slide presentation they do after the official meeting. It is odd though that no rumors have leaked on it. I think the sticking point is the cost. I don't think they can afford to charge the same as MYW without the inflated room cost to support it.

And beyond that, I doubt it has as much to do with DVC's systems as it has to do with WDW's systems. I bet the "problem" isn't on "our" end, but on "their" end.
